SlayerOfHellWyrm got a reaction from pilger in New motherboard + old GPU = No Post
SR-IOV is used for virtualization.... so no, that's not correct. What proof do you have that they updated to P3.20? My guess since you get no form of post, is that they didn't update to P3.20 or newer to enable the support. I'd go back to them, and have them show me it's updated before worrying about anything else. Boards not updated will do exactly what you're outlining here. It could also be a dead CPU, or board, or RAM or something as well, but rule out the BIOS first by having them show you. Any self-respecting shop can do that for you.

Unfortunately, without the older CPU to update the board, it's not possible. This board does not feature a BIOS flashback feature which lets you update the BIOS without a CPU or RAM. As such, you need an older CPU from someone, to go back to the store to have them do it or to use the service offered by AMD. There's no workaround here, sorry.

If she wants Beats, and likes the sound of them, let her be. Not everyone like a flat frequency response curve, some people really like the sound of Beats. Let them make that decision because music and sound are subjective and preferential to the individual.

DisplayLink is a USB to video graphical chipset used in tons of products, and importantly, is the only macOS supported USB video chipset out there. Just to clear up what it is  The ZenScreen can by-pass the chipset with a DP-Alt mode enabled USB-C connection, however, which is very common.

Not sure how to put the album in the order I want but uh...
Not that I wanted to hijack your thread at all @espr3ss0. 100% though, plug all the RGB fans together because you can get some really nice effects from it. In terms of CPU power, plug in the 8 and 4-pin EPS, and plug in both 8-pin power for the GPU. You ideally, shouldn't have power connections missing with incredibly rare circumstances.

SlayerOfHellWyrm got a reaction from andrewmp6 in Corsair rgb fan to header on motherboard can get to work
As @andrewmp6 mentioned, Corsair's stuff is proprietary to them. You will indeed need either a Lightning Node Pro, or Commander Pro in order to correctly utilize the fans. They don't use a standard header, and so stuff only fits with their products.

This is why I stuck with all Corsair when I purchased my 500D SE, since it came with 3x 120mm LL120's in the front, and a pre-installed Commander Pro.

Edit: Forgot, they are working on standard RGB fans, not sure if they are available yet. I know they were supposed to be included in the Carbide Spec Delta RGB.

We'll put it this way, I work as a Sr. Technical Advisor for an IT manufacturer of connectivity solutions, and in my roughly 26 months with time I've created 5,821 cases, and closed maybe a few hundred more started by others.

I've had people ask why their anti-static mat isn't helping them sleep better because it's supposed to ground them from the negative ions in the air, had people shove USB-C connectors into a Thunderbolt 2 port on a 2015 MacBook Pro, and shove M.2 cards into a regular USB to SATA adapter. Those are some of the interesting support requests.

Pre-sales wise, I've had to explain how RAID is not a backup, why NVMe can't be converted to SATA, why a hard drive dock won't magically fix a dead drive, and the list goes on.

I've dealt with so much now, and on scales from a small as one item for one person, to a multi-million dollar deal for a tech company, as well as defence contractors, etc.

I've had everything from folks who admit they know nothing and just want a solution, to people who've been a network admin for 15 years and can't remember how to set a static IP.

I love my job, but some days it's draining.

Agree with this 100%. You can see the only non Corsair things in my build are the board, and my GPU. I just have the board set to white, becuase Asus Aura Sync has a tendency to not load, or to cause iCue to crash on my system for some reason.

I've got the 2666Mhz 32GB (2x16GB) kit of white RGB. No issues with it. Corsair iCue is a tad crowded with everything though, lol.

Specs are in my signature, and I can get some pics if you want @Catchears

Just let it sit for a bit. WMI can run pretty stiff when updates are downloading, things are patching, etc. Tracking down what within WMI is causing the huge CPU spike is going to be somewhat difficult.

I know on my system, during large updates it can spike to 80% and sit there for a bit, and I've seen WMI do it as well when running VM's.

Before posting a new troubleshooting topic:
Check there aren't any similar threads already - if there are, it's much easier for everyone to use the same thread so that everybody gets all of the same advice Try turning it off and on again. It sounds stupid, but it's amazing how often that fixes it Make sure all of your drivers are up to date WHEN MAKING YOUR POST, ALWAYS:
Describe the problem you are having in detail but without rambling. If your post is as long as this one, it's too long. Include your operating system including version and 32/64 bit. Include your entire system specs, including the wattage of your PSU. Tell us which BIOS version you have. Some problems can be fixed by updating to the latest BIOS, so check that there are no updates available Include any software running when it crashes (if applicable) Give full details of any error messages and screenshots if possible Use an informative title briefly describing the error. It's not helpful to see a thread titled "please help" or "Urgent" because most people are better at some problems than others, so may not prioritize your issue, and some people will ignore you completely. Without these details, we may not be able to help you. To speed up the process, please ensure you have all the details on your post.

Please be respectful to people giving advice. They are just trying to help you, and it's highly unlikely that they will be trying to damage you, your PC, or anything else. If you doubt what they have said, just quote it and ask whether it's really a good idea/what it will achieve/surely it will do this. You would be amazed at the variety of solutions that actually work.

When your problem appears to have been solved, mark the solution as the answer (using the check button at the bottom of the post). The troubleshooters would also appreciate it if you liked posts which were helpful and allowed you to solve your problem. Remember, people have given up time to help you.

If you have overclocked any components, it is important that you reset them to stock before asking for help, even if it has been working fine. Overclocking can cause a wide range of obscure issues, and it's one of the easiest things to get out of the way.

So far, I've had no artifcating or issues with my 2070 since I got it. Granted, it's only been about two weeks, but still. I didn't see much about the issues still being rampant or a thing before I dropped about $700 CAD on it.

    3) It depends on the games or scenarios, but it can help a lot. Memory overclocking does sometimes create crashes from miswritten information.
    4) 60C is great, most gpus can run at up to 80-90 safely.
    5) Most people (myself included) prefer MSI afterburner, but I’ve never really used Asus’s utility.

I saw mention of Win 10... could also just be a driver issue, given it's such a new OS there are plenty of bugs with stuff like this. That all being said, make sure you check all your cables and so on, and if you know the type of Ethernet you are using (be it straight-through, or cross-over) try the other. Sometimes, Auto-MDIX is not a thing, and using the wrong cable means things won't work.

Well, don't put my company up on a pedestal... we've got some janky shit going on too, but we do have pretty basic things setup that all IT should, like a file server that logs whenever files are created, deleted, renamed, moved, copied, etc... Or you know, just have permissions so that people can't copy. It saddens me to hear stories of company taking IT for granted, like yeah... maybe other departments are more important (like the people who bring in the money) but IT keeps things safe, and makes lives so much easier.
