What power supply should i get?

NizonRox
Go to solution Solved by KamiKatze,

But would it work with my build(and oc) while still being at silent mode at times?

that PSU will definiteley be in its passive state when you are idling or doing stuff on the desktop. When you use 3D applications (like games) that draw a lot of power, the fan might kick on, but i am sure it's very quiet. At least i haven't heard any stories about loud corsair AX PSUs.

I've saved up quite a bit to build a new build instead of my old prebuild hp that is worth almost nothing :P

So the build so far is:

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

MSI Z97-Gaming 9 AC ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory

Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB WINDFORCE 3X Video Card

Cooler Master Storm Trooper ATX Full Tower Case

Im hoping to get a powersupply that allows me to oc, and being silent when i dont game.

If you got tips for the rest of the build then let me now.

The pc is for Rendering, Video editing and gaming.

I can recommend EVGA Supwernova G2 PSUs. Wattage-wise your system won't need more than a 500W PSU however getting the 750W version you might never actually get in the power draw range at which the fan of the PSU starts spinning. Either way, the Supernova G2 PSUs are really good quality and they are semi-passive.

who cares...

A Corsair HX750 or AX760i would be good choices for that system too. You also have to take into account capacitor aging as well when you choose a power supply.

Spending $429 on a Z97 board doesn't make any sense. You can get an X99 system with your budget.

EVGA G2/GS are excellent power supplies. The G2 is made by SuperFlower and the GS is Seasonic. The Corsair AX is also a Seasonic made unit, but it is expensive compared to other models. If you want to stick with Corsair then look at the RMx range.
