So apparently this is spreading and it turns off the phone. It happened to me and its annoying but weird how it happens.

I was able to crash my ipod with it.

You have to have the spacing right for it to work.

isnt that, like, a security issue?

if you can turn off a phone with a text then you can probably do other system tasks with text...

Hang on I does it damage the phone. Cause I got an iphone 4 that is waiting to be tested. And does it have to go through iMessage?  :lol:

Hmm I will have to try it maybe.... I forgot I don't have a SIM card in my 4 and I don't want to mess with my other phones/ipad on my imessage.

Do you have a iPhone 6 it might be a very focused problem or iOS 8.3

iPhone 5C and 5S. I can get out my 6 and see if it's from that because I think it's on 8.3. The 5s are on lower firmwares.

I can't get my device (iPhone 6 & iPad 3 both on 8.1.2) to reboot

 

I am jailbroken if that makes a difference

Don't do it with a jailbroken device. Apparently users were saying on reddit that if their device was jailbroken, it was messing it up even more. 

 

 

For it to work though, you can't have the imessage app open at the same time.

If I remember correctly, this text causes problems on all apple devices. Fairly sure there was a news post about it a while back.

I just confirmed this with one of my friends

 

it ONLY affects iOS 8.3 devices, and it doesn't cause a full reboot. It just causes the device to respring.
