Triple 4K Monitor Build

So, I've come into some money and want to go all out on a build.  I want to go triple monitor at 4K.  I believe the minimum display I would go for would be 27".  My budget is 4-5K.  Is this possible?

Could I do it on one Titan X OC'ed and water cooled, or two?

How much RAM would be required or does the 8G spec still hold for a gaming rig of this nature?

I know I should stick with G-sync monitors, but which?  I know I want ISPs that run around 144hz, but what's the best for the money?

I was thinking about the 5930K E, or is there a better choice?

In other words, "Help a brotha' build a dream rig!"

I would say at least 2 better if you have 3 (titans)

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

You'd need 4 Titan X's, and I'm not even kidding lol.

You'd also need a 5960x or 5930k overclocked balls to the walls to keep up.

you're going to run into a VRAM issue and then no doubt a lack of GPU horsepower issue. Its just not feesable to do with todays tech :(

I agree. 4 Titans are needed for 4K surround.

Unless you want to play on very low at 4k surround.

I do think you need some serious power if you want to game at that resolution, I mean check out linus's video of the Obutto Cockpit for more info, but you really need more than just a couple of titan x's, like you need four of the next generation cards to game at that resolution.  I would suggest getting those three monitors, but going ahead and using only one or two, two will probably work just fine.

If you want to game on ONE monitor and have the other two for other stuff, I'd go for two r9 290Xs or gtx 970s. If you want to game on all 3, at high to ultra settings, you'll need 3 or 4 titan Xs. So yeah, it's feasible. But you won't have the money for the monitors afterwards. If I were you, I'd stick with gaming on one monitor for the time being, and keeping some money for upgrades in 2-3 years when you don't need multiple 1000$ cards to do it.

Not even sure if 4-way Titan-X would even scale good enough lol.

You could go dual-Xeon processors or 1 single better one but the cores won't help in gaming that much. (Barnacules did this in his build and had videos on it).

Triple 4K isn't reachable in my opinion, at least not if you want to use them all 3 for gaming at the same time.

It would scale nearly perfectly at that resolution provided you have the CPU to back it up, if he also got a board with a PLX chip so he could have 16x-4 way, it'd help.

FC4/GTA5/Hardline are not really a pinnacle of optimization IMO, older games will most likely run better, as shown in my link.

Ya know Sean, I think you're on to something, here.  I was looking at this with my nerd brain, which said "I MUST HAVE ALL THE PIXELS!"  Where as my professional brain says that the two side 4K monitors would mostly be wasted, based on how the human vision system works.  Our peripheral vision is really bad at detecting detail and color.  It's mostly good at detecting motion and that's about it.  So the question is, is it easy to set surround in this manner, or will it be something of a one-off setup?

Thank you all for the feedback, by the way.

Go with triple 1440p definitely. Try out the PG278Q or the XB2720HU. Its basically TN and 1ms reponse time or IPS and 4ms. They are about the same price too, but in the US, if you go with this you'll spend 2100+ just on monitors. You could also go freesync... but AMD.....

Maybe try and wait for the next generation of cards to come around, it should be just around the corner.

Or you could go for 60Hz monitors as well.

I think I will wait a bit, and I do want to go IPS G-Sync at 144Hz.  I've had a couple of AMD cards and did not enjoy the driver issues I had.

So, does anyone know if you can run your surround in a 1440-4K-1440 setup? This build will be for gaming, not for productivity, so the drop in resolution on the peripheral won't mean much at all.

Definitely have a look at the XB2720HU then. Also a surround 1440p setup can be run, but powering it it VERY difficult. Have a look at this http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/200728-parts-list-for-ultimate-surround-25k-gaming-pc-build-guide/Note that the three monitors are 60Hz panels and still were not easy to run by far
