What do you think of my AMD build?

R3bellion

Here's a decent adaptation of OP's build. The 6300, a better mobo, better PSU, (imo) better case. All together, it's sub $500.

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor  ($94.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($69.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Team Dark 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($56.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 270X 2GB Double Dissipation Video Card  ($163.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: NZXT Source 210 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($37.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply  ($24.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $496.73

It would be better to get this PSU, It is about the same price but 600 watts, It would be more efficient since a PSU is usually the most efficient at about 50% load.

Adaption of OP's build. For the price of a 270X VaporX you can get a 280, more VRAM. Also - Deepcool Tesseract is a good case

a FX6300 has no problem maxing out any midrange gpu like a 280.

So if you are on a budget, the FX6300 with a 280 would still be a decent combo.

CPU is just a i7 4770K without an IGP, they go for much cheaper because of that and they can't overclock but it's not needed as it outperforms a 8350 at 5GHz..

Anyways to quickly sum it up, between a simple i5 4430/8320 the 4430 is a much better all-rounder and ending cheaper up so avoid 8320's at all costs and they're worse for most multithreaded workloads. A 6300 can be a good choice over the i3 if video editing is all you do but it's worse than the i3 for gaming. I'd still go with the i3 as it offers a much better upgrade path, all you can get from AMD is like a 33% boost theoretically from their 8 cores and zero performance in games. The i5 and up still shows a performance increase (can be huge) over the i3 as many games only use between 2-4 cores. On AMD's side, actually anything higher than the 4300 is performing the same thing.

Also: OP could get a 280 for $10 more.

you should have gone for white/gold instead of black/blue #thedress

OT: however much i want to keep away from fanboyism, intel really is the better option here, while your build will deliver a decent chunk of performance, amd falls behind intel quickly on more cpu-heavy workloads.

Why is it "better"?

Intel processors are for people who want a faster PC but AMD is better than intel for on board graphics because AMD processors are APU's which have a integrated graphics chip inside the CPU

If you want AMD you can go with FX 6300 or 6350, FX 8320 or FX 8350 would be better.

You would be better off getting the 6300 or 8320 and spending the saved money on a better overclocking motherboard and CPU cooler.

No. It is only their A-series CPU's that has powerful integrated graphics.

The FX-series are regular CPU's.

A FX 8320 can compete against a i5-4460 when using all cores.

And a FX 4300 is kinda Meh, But it is still about as good as the Pentium G3258.

The FX 6300 Competes againt the i3-4370

What is your budget & location? There's one or two things that I'd personally change if I were you, in the name of performance!

750$, and i live in Croatia.

Get intel, thank me later  ;)

If only Intel was cheaper... then i would have to swap the motherboard and that can cost me more than AMD motherboard and CPU.

Also i'm not be like playing on ultra settings 1080p. So AMD will serve me good.

Something like this might be better if you game more than video edit, hopefully the parts are a similar price in your area

Also, the motherboard might need updating to the latest bios, but I'm not sure

Yeah with all these parts it will go over 1000$ US in my country...
