GTE

Acer is currently working on two new monitors; the CB240HYK and K242HQK. Both models are relatively small and offer a resolution of 3840x2160 Ultra HD pixels at a refresh rate of 60 Hz. They feature an IPS panel with LED backlight and maximum viewing angles of 178 degrees both vertically and horizontally. However, there are some differences.

The CB240HYK has a screen diagonal of 23.8 inches. According to the manufacturer, the 8-bit + FCR panel provides a maximum brightness of 310 cd / m², contrast ratio of 1000: 1 and a response time of 6 ms. In terms of connectivity it provides dual-link DVI, HDMI 2.0 (with MHL support) and DisplayPort. He also has 2x 2W built-in stereo speakers and offers the ability to foot the screen rotate, tilt, adjustable in height or be used in portrait mode.

The K242HQK with a diagonal of 23.6-inch fraction smaller. Here, the manufacturer claims a maximum brightness of 300 cd / m², contrast ratio of 1000: 1 and a response time of 4 ms. It features an 8-bit panel and provides just as the other model in dual-link DVI, HDMI 2.0 (+ MHL) and DisplayPort connectors image, there are 2 x 2W stereo speakers present. The foot is carried out somewhat simpler, so it is only possible in this screen in order to tilt it.

Both CB240HYK as K242HQK are reportedly in February in mass production. They are expected to be available from April. What they will cost is unknown.

Seems pretty sweet.

If they get the price right this can be an extremely well selling display.

Cheapest 1440p IPS is barely <$300 lol

shhhhhh

1440p is also a >27" screen and not produced in nearly the same volume that 4k will be produced in.

Why cram 4k into a 24" screen?

Because if W10 fixes the scaling 4k @24" would be AMAZING. >24" is too big and 1080p @ 24" is awful.

What I don't even...

I sort of agree

although if windows scaling was fixed I wouldnt mind 4k on a sub 27" panel, like how the retina macbooks handle it, those are beautiful

4k has been happening. People on here have just been denying it.

Come on guys!

If none of us buys them until the price is dropped below $300, they'll have no choice but to lower it.

It's just a matter of convincing everyone in the world to keep strong and not buy at $500 or whatever.

I fail to see the point of having a 24'' 4k display isn't 1440p already ''retina'' at normal desk distances?

*People's wallets. I can't afford a 1000 euro monitor lol, well I could but that's too much for me to spend on a display.

Yeah pretty much... my desk is 80cm deep. Your site says 24'' @ 1440p is retina at 28 inches / 71 cm distance seems pretty standard distance to me.

1080p @ 24" looks incredibly pixellated. In games its not too bad, but in general use it's VERY noticeable.

I've literally had people here tell me I was dumb for getting a 4k monitor when 1440p would be the next big thing. 1440p has been around forever and I've never, not once, seen a tv use that resolution. I got my 4k monitor for a super cheap deal, you just have to look around.

I'm confused. Why the tag?

I assume they won't "support" Freesync, just like Asus due to NVIDIA GSync contracts... so it's all about a certification... or sticker.

The DP version is what matters for Freesync, it doesn't matter if it says "Freesync" or not, in the box.

4k at 24"?  I'm even more excited for that than 1440p at 24"!  Seriously, give me the PPI, maaan!  27" or 24", just as long as the PPI is above 150 :P
