Today, we launch our new mid-range monster, the $199 GeForce GTX 960. Featuring the exact same Maxwell technology as the award-winning GTX 980 and GTX 970, the new GTX 960 grants you access to innovations like DSRMFAAVR Direct and VXGI, enables you to use super smooth G-SYNC monitors, and play next-gen DirectX 12 games the second they’re released. It’s perfect for Small Form Factor PCs thanks to its low power consumption, it runs silently in League of Legends because of its efficient power usage, smart design, and new zero RPM fan modes, and it’ll give you instant access to any future Maxwell technologies developed by NVIDIA’s leading R&D team.

I just checked the prices in UK and I'm freaking surprised :) All models under £200 and the strix model performs better than 760. I'm happy for people buying this card.

I like that this card is such a strong performer for its price point... a lot.  I mean we all knew that it was going to be a low power draw card and have a single PCIe power connector blah blah blah, but the performance and ease of overclocking on this thing is a bit staggering from what I expected.  Good on ya nVidia...

... AMD PLEASE stop dragging your dick in the dirt, let a bigger company buy your asses out, and bring some competition back to GPU and CPU consumer sales... PLEASE.  I hate a stale market.

The fuck?

AMD's cards are a better value than the 960 at this price point. The 280x can be had in America for $205 and it is much better than the 960 PLUS it has an extra gig of vram.

I don't understand this card. It really isn't better than the 7950 that could have been had a  year ago for 150 bucks.

It's actually taken from the source which is Nvidia's official launch statement. So that's about as legit as the reference design will get.

WOW, a whole extra gig? /kappa  It's actually performing relatively on par with the 280X/770, and given that these cards are destined for 1080P gaming anyway more than 2GB of VRAM is kind of not even used unless you're doing some sort of number crunching with the cards or running Skyrim with ALL of ze mods.

At the end of the day unless you really care about the power savings... the r9 280 is $200 and still a better piece of hardware. Nvidia is going to have to make the 750ti already $125 bucks, the 760 around $160 bucks and the soon to come because this card is meh... the  760ti around $190.

Newegg has some R9 280's for 150 after mir.

It's slower than the R9 285 and 280X at 1080p. Significantly slower at 2560x1440. That small memory bus is a real bottleneck. I can't honestly can't see the value in this card if it's slower than similarly priced cards already in the market. Seriously, just spend $60 more and get an R9 290.

280x is so much better for the cash, regardless you could probably get a 290 for no more than $50 more, which is a huge bump up from a 960

About in between 760 and 770 and ~10% worse than 280x.

A whole extra gig? That's 50% more vram, sounds like a lot to me.

I love looking at older benchmarks to compare cards... benchmarks that seem to have less driver optimzations messing with the comparisons...

21114955606l.jpg

Other than driver optimizations in new titles... this card doesn't not have more muscle than a 760 and nowhere near a 7950/280.

650ti boost

true but the boost was an updated GK  104 (I belive) so that made some sense (it was built for solid 1080 performance) but  it still sounds like they are undercutting themselves

Woohoo. Europe!

woohoo taxes.

on topic, does the reference card have the led GeForce logo on the side? If so I'm kinda butthurt about my 970 strix having no led logo and a tiny white led at one end that does nothing
