It will handle it easily but you might still want to invest in a new quality PSU

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

Yes but im short in my budget right now. Im just rebuilding my pc for temporary use. What would be the downside if my psu cant handle the card?

It can definitely handle it, but ThermalTake PSU's aren't the best. Trust me I own one.

THe card will throttle due to lack of power or your PC will just instantaneously shut down without warning

500W will be plenty for a R7 260x. I am running a R9 290 and an overclocked 2500k on my 550W PSU. Quality is also a factor, as I see people above saying that the quality of this PSU is questionable.

It's listed on my profile: a Corsair TX550m Bronze PSU. Not the newest, but it still works fine :)
