An interesting little HDMI dongle that plugs into your tv that allows you to immediately view/do something more entertaining with the device when a commercial is on and it adds PIP so you don't miss the show and know when to put the show back on your tv screen.  All it takes is a clap, snap or if you have one a tap on a smart phone to get you where you want to go with the Playmute device.  It is a Kickstarter right now looking for $100,000 in support money.  Units will start shipping in June next year and then will be available at retail for $150.

So it doesn't remove anything, just brings up something else? I'd personally find it jarring if I was watching a show then during the ad it redirected to other entertainment.

A different show, music, porn, pretty sure it'd all break the viewing experience, whatever happened to just getting up and getting a drink or a snack if the commercials bothered you so much?

 

I don't know, I feel the people who would find a use in this device can find better methods without having to waste $150.

There is a similar project : www.telefairy.com The Ad Skip Box is available for 99$ in germany, switzerland and austria and soon in US. They can filter out commercials during channel hopping and the box skips away in an ad free channel and skips back automatically when the commercial ends.
