All depends on the game. Since I play FPS games 30 FPS go go ahead and burn.

I personally rather do 1080p 30 fps. 720p 60 fps is what next gen consoles do

I'd rather have games run better than look better. with my main system I don't have to make too many compromises on graphics to get good FPS  but with the rig at my mom's house i set the res to 720p to get smoother gameplay

720p 60fps. I don't have a 1080p display, so...

30-40 fps or above is fine for me in most games.

Source games... Over 60 fps is a must have.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

You forgot the "depends on the game" option

There are a lot of games. The only one I don't like below 45 is Skyrim.

30Hz isn't even a real measurement of refresh rate (SLOW ISN'T EVEN A REAL WORD). 1080p 60Hz minimum.

Two questions:

What is 720p?

What is 30 FPS?

The lowest numbers I've heard of are 1080p and 60 FPS.. I'd much rather run at low settings with no AA, AF, or AO instead of having to lower resolution (though 900p is decent enough) or framerate..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Ok, if i had to choose one for all games, i would choose the 1080p 30fps one given that it is indeed synced and never dips at all.

Obviously if i had option to choose for games ( PC can do that :D ) then i would choose depending on game.

It would depend on the game.

For fast paced competitive and or multiplayer games

I would prefer a higher framerate. For story-based

games where I will likely have more downtime and

slower pacing I would likely prefer the higher

resolution.

I can honestly barely tell the difference between 30 and 60fps. But, that's probably because both are a huge improvement to my 10FPS minecraft playing on my MacBook Air 2011.

720p 60fps on a smaller display.

Otherwise 1080p 60fps minimum. I don't want to play anything at 30fps. The only game I put up with 30fps was Dark Souls because it's locked and the game is/was awesome.
