Russian Hackers stole 1.2 billion Passwords

The Russion hacking group CyberVor have stolen 1.2 billion usernames and passwords, and 500 million email addresses which is believed to be the largest known theft of confidential Internet information.  They did not discriminate on who's identity was stolen, everyone was a target.  Now may be the time to update your passwords (yet again).

 

 "The CyberVors did not differentiate between small or large sites. They didn’t just target large companies; instead, they targeted every site that their victims visited. With hundreds of thousands sites affected, the list includes many leaders in virtually all industries across the world, as well as a multitude of small or even personal websites."

 

Holden won't identify the gang, but he says his investigators know their names and locations. "The perpetrators are in Russia so not much can be done. These people are outside the law," he said.

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

It's likely that they're just making a massive wordlist to do dictionary attacks on whatever it is Russians try to crack.

I hate this sh*t so much. We need to compliment a better system of security than just a word of something. I am thinking a DNA identifier that sits on your desk and when you want to access your accounts you need to put blood or the such on it. Yea you can still fool it but it's much harder to steal someones hair or blood then to steal their passwords. There has to be a better way though.

Yea you can still fool it but it's much harder to steal someones hair or blood then to steal their passwords. There has to be a better way though.

I've heard of at least a dozen hackers from Romania who got into US govt. servers...

LMAO, isn't this going too far? I'm not gonna cut myself so I can put blood in some ID checker. And those can be hacked too. Instead of trying to secure everything you do, just assume you have no privacy, anonymity and security. This is just the world we live in today.
