It's special because millions of thirsty space fiend PC gaming dollars have entered the pockets of Chris Roberts and he has taken those millions of dollars and used them to show the world numerous broken demonstrations and snippets of a ridiculously ambitious game that will never be finished.

It's a very ambitious project, and if they succeed then it will probably be amazing. I wouldn't spend any money on it though, at least not yet. Just see how it goes and if they make a functional game in 2-3 years that runs decently and does all the things that they promised. Ignore the hype for now and be cautiously optimistic.

No comments. Judge it yourself by reading up on the game, watching a few hundred videos and some streams on twitch.

If you like space ships and whatnot then it's a game to keep an eye on.

Of what, walking around a hanger and looking at money you spent that you can't use?

I mean it's an interesting idea and it's great if they finish it, but I don't care much about things that aren't released and available to me yet.

If I'm going to spend money on something, I want it to be done, ready, and usable.

Why everyone is excited for this I'll never know..

Even from the standpoint of a completed game, I had major doubts a space dogfighting game would have done well.

Your not selling it... :D

Combat flight sims have always been popular, I got bored of PC gaming when they dried up, anyway add space and lazors and you've got a definite winner.

i basicly know nothing about the game but see people mention it all over the place so why dont you go ahead and explain to me what it is what makes it special and why should i get into it. also how would that work if i wnated to be part fo it.

For me:

It's the first game in a long time that's taking no comprises, the game will come out with sweet graphics and real life physics and if you run that tough they aren't taking shortcuts to "imitate".

Chris Roberts is building the game and he has always been a true believer in the small things with once again a no compromise attitude, I've grown up playing most of his games and they are still installed on my PC, it's honestly like he's trying to make a game and a piece of artwork.

The game costs £27 when I brought it, you can't buy an AAA title for that and technically you get 2 games, the single player (squadron 42) and star citizen

The game is an open MMO and I hate most MMOs because of the pay to win and point click mentality, to a point SC won't offer these, you can pay for credits and nice shiny things to keep them up and running but you have the choice not to if you want

Star Citizen is gonna be more awesome than similar stuff because:

- it's much more simulation oriented. The more real stuff is the more you can become good at it.

- it doesn't have character stats or levels so there's no sense in grinding your ass out for 3 months before you can go to space

- it's gonna have great visual quality

- and what's most important it has lasers. Everybody knows that lasers are like bacon - they make everything better!

I wouldn't say WOW in space.

More like a spiritual successor of wing commander add a fps on that as well, your going to get dumped into space some places are not going to be mapped and you have to find them if you want, jump points will be named after you if you find them and the world is ever changing with online news streams and programs, say LAMP and UOLTT are having a raging war:

LAMP enters out territory and makes a decisive blow to our base, we repel them but with mass loss to our civilian population.

You'll see it on TV reported with interviews from the players

Dare I say the closest thing to a digital universe you could live in that we can deliver atm

who the fuck reporting that? does someone have to choose reporter as class or something :D? no seriously it sounds awesome but also a little to good to be true.
