Project: Event Horizon

Sempreviens
Hello guys and girls,

Finally after many years i have the chance to build a water cooled PC. The budget is in place and i am very excited myself!

I have a old Silverstone tj07 that over time took some scratches. I always wanted to mod it so here is the chance. The plan is to cut the middle of the uni-body leaving the frame left. Then add a 2 mm aluminium plate all the way around as a new uni-body for a clean flat surface. Other internal mods will follow as well to clean things up.

So here is ye old trusty TJ07 that even with its scratches does still look awesome. But it is modding time and here we go.

I will try to take as many pictures outside for better light as i only have a phone to take pictures.

2014-04-10165043_zpsa4e04b6d.jpg

Now i went to my local smith and bought a 2 mm aluminium plate. It measures 23 x 180 cm. i went with a 23 cm wide plate because i want to make the case a bit wider. to make more room for cables and SSD's.

2014-04-12102400_zps320f2481.jpg

i will be using blind rivets to attach the plate to the frame of the TJ07 and these are the tools for that.

2014-04-101810_zps5b4868e6.jpg

the first parts has been mounted and bending around the edge is going as planned if not easier.

2014-04-10183235_zpsea1a839d.jpg

So the bend were secured and you can see already now that the case have gained a bit more with.

2014-04-12110645_zps25736feb.jpg

So first part of the uni-body build is done so far and it looks beast! Cant wait so see it powder coated or painted (did not decide yet).

But this is the build for now. Will be waiting for more parts and do some more measuring for the internals.

Tomorrow will the watercooling parts arrive to the local post office. The wait have been long and i am way to excited now. I changed some parts because they were sold out and others due to change in design. Thumps up to the store for a great customer service.

The modding wont progress befor i have measured some more and test fitted the parts.

As you can see i went with one 250 mm EK res. It might be too small for the build but test fit will tell.

This could amount to something unique, even if executed poorly it looks awesome.

Hope you achieve the full potential of this idea, it's pretty rare and clean.

The good old Silverstone tj07  builds...love it man. Cant wait

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

Polish the aluminium and make her look WWII bomber style, exposed rivets and all.  ;)

Would be a nice mod. But this time i got something else in mind. WW2 bomber for a future build ;)

Hope you achieve the full potential of this idea, it's pretty rare and clean.

Thank you very much. I hope it will turn out as perfect i imagined. One of the reasons that this will take some time and not a weekend mod. Thanks for watching!

Today the watercooling parts arrived. They were shipped and packed very protective and all parts in good condition. There are a few fails in the order tho. So i have to wait a couple of days for the right parts to come. Does not really matter since the mod is not ready yet.

I am rather busy at work with long working days so i did not have time for daylight shooting of the components. Will get some good shots in the easter holidays. I did assemble the gtx 780 ti with waterblock. So here is a teaser for now

Have a great easter!
