SLI 1080 FTW & 2080Ti

a.habib

Hi, I am new here. May I ask if I can SLI my existing EVGA GTX1080 FTW with a new RTX2080Ti with a 750W PSU?

they have different standards for SLI.

The 1080ti you can sort of do it with other cads but is not worth and causes more issues.

The RTX uses NVLink which is a new standard and  cannot be SLI'd with older generation cards.

(please correct me if i'm wrong)

You are not wrong but the fact that it uses NVLink and not typical SLI slots is just on top of the fact that you can't SLI two different GPU's (meaning that even if the slots were compatibile, it wouldn't work anyway).

OP, welcome to the forums. As stated, you can only SLI the same GPU (doesn't need to be the same brand though, if you have 1080 from EVGA you can use a Founders Edition 1080 or Asus etc.)

You can only SLI identical Graphical Processing Units, so you can only SLI a 1080 with a 1080.

Ok ?

but even if all nvidiot cards had nvlink u still could only sli a 1080 with a 1080 or a 2080 with a 2080

u couldn’t sli a 1080 with a 1080ti and have slightly worse performance than 2 1080tis because it doesn’t work like that

Are you agreeing with me, disagreeing or paraphrasing what I just said? :D

Disagreeing because u said 1080ti u can sort of do it with other cards, and the fact is u can’t u can only do a 1080ti with a 1080ti in sli
