There is a sucker born every minute...

The Q

There is a sucker born every minute...Do not try to open an AIO pump. You will break it...I broke the wires that fed the windings, the stator is glued in so I can't redo the windings. I just had to open the pump instead of just adding the reservoir. Well, ARCTIC get's a new sale since the building of the 240mm AIO is rock solid, not stupid proof thou;.

Well, I guess it didn't work properly so you HAD TO open it up, right? Lol

I was going to add a reservoir to the damn thing, then my Dumb and Dumber part said, hey why don't you see if the micro fins have any gunk. There was* some stuff but very small, whiteish and squishy ! On the bright side I have a 240mm rad as a paper weight :)

well, i mean the rad isn't COMPLETELY useless. it's still a 240x28mm rad that you can splice into with regular plumbing fittings. they're just rubber hoses.

Yes, at this point I will buy another one for the CPU and maybe water cool the Graphics Card with the 240mm that, now, I have laying around. All I need is a pump for the GC and the right plate :)

did the tube connector on the pump have screw threads, or was there some prying/breaking needed to remove them? o_o

I just had to pull ...it seems the "?O-rings"? can be changed if need be

To be able to change the liquid inside every 1 year...and for some reason(no leaks) the standard liquid was evaporating, the volume of water that came out was very low.

thinking to untube a different AIO for a project and I'm hoping it's regular threaded fixtures ,_,

That I don't know ...worst case scenario I will see a post about it from you :)

I wonder if I can McGyver this and add the corpse of the pump to the bicycle and move the fluid around like that...playing games and working out ? Success ...

Windings are windings and wires are wires. A clearer picture of the issue would be great. If there is the Silastic or "glue" as you call it, which I can assume it is, then its just a bit harder to get rid of the Silastic in the problem area because you do not want to mark through the motor winding coating which is a polymer film, if it scratches and touches another marked motor winding then that is not good, not good at all.

You probably ripped the wire off the winding wire when you took it apart. I see no Silastic on the pictures you provided.

The windings where attached to the circuit board directly...I said wire to identify the wire copper that went from the circuit board to the windings before it wrapped around !

True, but it would be better to have learned it without it costing anything.

This is why I only ever mess with stuff when I'm upgrading and have the new replacement component already installed. Then I'm free to go ham on it and it doesn't really matter if it breaks or not.

Well...I bought the Arctic Freezer rev2. Once I finish studying and start working again I shall spend many many moneyz on upgrading everything. Lesson learned !

But if you wouldn't have broken it you could have sold it or maybe used it for another build. . .

It all depends on how you weigh the monetary or utility value of the item against the value of learning from it. Obviously people values those differently.

True, it depends a lot on what you learn, is it "I broke this $12,000 thing but learned to not tighten screws so much" or "I broke my $20 cup but learned how to drive a forklift".

It's pretty simple electronics and components, with a bit of planning you could well put it back together. Do a dry fit first. Might need some soldering depending on the internal electronics you mentioned broke, but there is no reason why you couldn't get it working again I don't THINK. I wonder if you could tap G1/4 threads in the radiator and pump housing, you'd need to be careful with the plastic on the pump/block cover though.

AIOs have very little liquid in them.

And on the first day god said: "Cue one GO" And there was light!
