When are the Budget Steam machines going to hit. If Steam machine has any chance at competing with the consoles they need to have competitive pricing. If they give the steam machines BS price tags it will further reinforce the "PC gaming is for rich people" stereotype.

Looks like you won't be able to upgrade the GPU very easily.

Is it a steambox like every other just twice as expensive?

There isn't a price yet.

IBP has one for $500 and another "Higher end" one for $700

Haha. Now that you've mentioned it, I bet it does use mobile parts in it. Maybe MXM gpu module, sodimm ram, BGA cpu etc.

umm looks like a NUC? last I checked they weren't on par with xbox/ps4..

EDIT: Actually you could fit most things in an 8 inch space but it must get hotter than a george foreman grill in there..

EDIT2: That upside down glowy triangle thing looks awful.

Glowing Steam badge is pretty cool, but facing down?? At the same time, the alienware logo would be sideways when stood vertically.

Given it's size, probably a single board with cpu and gpu... separate since it's going to be intel/nvidia combo.  Most likely mobile parts for heat and power issues... but if they could stuff and i5 + 760 with one big heatsink in there that would be cool haha.

Price comparable to PS4 and XBONE... That would be pretty budget for a "PC" type gaming machine.
