It would appear that YouTube is altering some users comments

This was confirmed by YouTuber Taofledermaus, who was leaving a comment on another youtuber's video when he noticed that his comment was changed from what it originally was.

If it's changing to something unrelated, then something's wrong with the memory of the server. Like YT is reading off the wrong piece of info (maybe another comment) and placing it under the video instead of something the user just typed.

Not surprised, after all YT did go down shortly before and sometimes they could be in such a rush to get things back to work that they overlook these things (or else Pornhub will be overloaded)

Well, really, everything is a duplicate post. Every single thing except real specific topics.

Its well known that companies will alter postings or take them down. No news there, but it should say in the t.o.s. that no one reads.

I guess I can add this as one more reason why I stopped clicking likes/dislikes entirely, stopped storing my search history and stopped storing my view history. I'm not even sure I'll be commenting much anymore either. F the engagement. Only reason I'm still on Youtube is because few Youtubers (one of them is Linus :) ) I watch for years have interesting content and are not found anywhere else. Other than that, the Youtube platform is the same dumspterfire as everything else from Google these days because they just can't stop with their BS of peddling hardcore leftist politics and censoring everything they even mildly dislike. Being tree huggers they are, you can't say "atomic power" either because it just might offend some a**hole.

We can all bet they'll say it was a "minor glitch" or some other BS when we know it's just their system for censorship sperging out. I bet it was not meant to change the message instantly, it should have done that after user leaves the page so you don't notice it...

That's unsettling, but I can't say I'm very surprised.

†

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

Cry havoc and let slip the Togs of war.  (Signature V3)

Yeah, and Float Plane deleted my comment because it had "Trump" in it.

All those "tolerant" and "inclusive" liberals openly censor opposing views. Welcome to the PC culture.

It's a swear word in some countries... perhaps accidental swear filtering (they have to still be legal, so might have a legal filter active?).

This was already disproved by @Curufinwe_wins in another thread.

Lol. So you know how he mentioned that it looked like some crap that google translate poops out? It is. The posts aren't actually being edited. He's wrong as it happens. Google integration has auto detection and translation of various web pages. The post isnt actually being changed, but Google is automatically translating the post from what it thinks is a different language into English. If you cant find what part of the page is triggering the auto translate, all you have to do to fix the issue is disable page translation without prompts.

How do I know this? It's happened to me. I lost my shit and was freaking out trying to figure out what's going on (I was messaging a friend through this and other sites.) She screenshot proved that my sent message was the same as the one I typed, but it showed up different on my page.

This isnt related to the current topic.

EDIT: Replicated the issue as proof. It was probably from Russian to English. Side-note, my example problem was also due to auto-detection of Russian. My friend being from a former soviet republic and my having typed a bit of russian (I have a very basic understanding) in our dialogue before that point.

This behavior doesn't occur with most languages that write using a roman script, so most of the time, we wouldn't notice an errant translation attempt.

Most languages just spit back out english words as is if they don't match up exactly to known words in Google translate. This isn't done in Russian because the alphabet is different and google attempts to translate people's butchered beliefs of how russian words sound/should be spelled in roman script (instead of cryllic). Like Da Svidaniya is not actually how the word is spelled. It is spelled до свидания, but the stress of the language make it sound sorta like da svidaniya. Ergo when translating languages using a different script by default, google attempts to "interpret" what you mean when you don't spell things correctly, while languages that use Roman scripts instead tends to just spit it back out unchanged.

Yeah that does go on with online companies, deleting comments, changing comments, fake comments.

That is really devilish because you could smear people very easily and destroy their reputation. The excuse youtube, twitter, facebook.... changed your post doesn´t sound very credible

It is actually quite rampant these days with competitors doing smear campaigns and companies going after individuals writing negative comments or reviews. Also remember that the Better Business Bureau is only in operation to get fee's from businesses, it is like the Heart and Stroke Foundation putting their seal of approval on non-healthy food products. Its just a scam, a lie or however else you want to put it.
