4k tv would be beautiful but i swear most of the channels still dont even use 1080p on foxtel in aus so i don't see the point investing into it especially at the moment. When tv, dvds etc go 4k then it would be great but by then 4k would be muuuuuuuuch cheaper and worth it

I could see myself using one as a very large digital picture frame to display

high-res images on my wall (I have tons of ridiculously high-res space images

I could use for that  ), but for watching TV/Blu-Rays etc. I don't really

see much use for one at the moment (or maybe ever?).

With no 4K source I fail to see what the point of being an early adopter to 4K is. While TV may be dead though, TV's are not. They will continue to be the preferred way to "consume" series and movies.

HTPC + Internet TV for the win!

If they filmed/showed TV in 4K i would happily buy one.

Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
They go to the lake of fire and fry, Won't see them again 'till the fourth of July

There just isn't enough 4K content to justify the high prices of the 4K TVs.

I don't watch TV or have a decoder box, but I do have a TV as my main screen. It supports 720 full and 1080 with some crappy form of scaling and has a max of 60Hz. All in all it does the job, though the colours bleed a little to much. That being said would I upgrade to 4k if I could afford it, like if I was making hundreds of thousands a month, then sure. In a heartbeat. But as the pricetag is still very steep it isn't fiscally responsible. So I'd rather suggest going for an HD TV, as the ones that are of better quality might drop in price. I either want a giant AMOLED display, IPS display or that new one... the other one, whats it called *snaps fingers*...

4k is only worth it if you're TV is 80in+ I don't know where you live but most Best Buys have a 4k tv playing so you can see the difference.

I wouldn't buy one now, there's no content to watch in 4k on it >.<

As for the future? Ehh, probably not. TV is dead imo

I wouldn't mind gaming in 4K, but I don't see anyone easily streaming 4K anytime soon. It will have to be heavily compressed or have super speed internet

Depends on your needs. 32 inch TV monitors as screens are viable for some and not for others.

I would get one if I were upgrading today on the basis that I only get a new TV every 8 or so years, and by the time 4k content is everywhere, I would still have 4 or so years left on my tv

Well there is the content issues.

It's a great experience depending on how close you want to sit/large tv you want. You would have to sit closer than the "retina" distance of 1080p to get any value from 4k.
