What do you do with old once you upgrade?

Question for the people who upgrade to the newest hardware each time the new big thing comes out. What do you do with your old but not that old hardware? Keep it in storage or try and sell it? Build another machine? I'm curious is all.

Depends on how old. If it's so old that giving it to someone would actually be doing them a disservice then I would look at selling it. Some old tech folks need to repair their old tech or nostalgia.

Did you decide what to do with your old CPU? Wait, wasn't it dead?

AMD Ryzen 5800XFractal Design S36 360 AIO w/6 Corsair SP120L fans  |  Asus Crosshair VII WiFi X470  |  G.SKILL TridentZ 4400CL19 2x8GB @ 3800MHz 14-14-14-14-30  |  EVGA 3080 FTW3 Hybrid  |  Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe 500GB - Boot Drive  |  Samsung 850 EVO SSD 1TB - Game Drive  |  Seagate 1TB HDD - Media Drive  |  EVGA 650 G3 PSU | Thermaltake Core P3 Case

Inside some old case I found lying around.

That's the thing idk, I'm almost sure it's the board so that means I have a good chip. I have no way to test it but I could sell it but be like may work but if not I'll give money back

Either sell it, keep it, or make a pc and give it to a family member.

This :P Even at 4ish years old (at the time) with a R9 270 in it brand new 2TB HDD, DVD Player, case, thermal paste, cpu fan, paid the difference (about $80) for a monitor of their choice for about $700 (I think, it was likely less). They wanted a computer but nothing for a similar price tag was coming close to what I was able to offer, plus 100% will work.

Note: the computer was worth about $1100 upon building initially(CPU/RAM where about $600 Alone), and the CPU between my current one and it is little so it's not like I was selling my P4 for $700 lol.

I'd be careful with this someone might try to take you for a ride. If anything sell it as is, it is unknown what is wrong. Depending on how old it's not worth getting a shop to look at or try buying a cheap board.

No idea really yet. I could just keep it and if someone needs a PC I can build one using existing parts.

I usually shift hardware down the line. Stuff out of my rig goes to wife's, anything not used goes in my pile of tech in my workspace and is either used when I'm overclocking for fun or eventually sold.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.
