Im taking some medical classes and alot of the books are not actually books. They are papers with wholes in them that you need to put into a binder. So i will be carrying around a large binder or two along with a tablet/laptop and lab booklet.

Looking for a sturdy backpack. Anyone have any suggestions?

Swiss gear makes great stuff. That one backpack got me through all of engineering school.

Best of luck with your classes!

I too used a Swiss Gear backpack for College. It was a great pack. I actually replaced it with a newer Swiss Gear backpack recently too.

best swissgear backpack? they have a few with alot of options

Just about anything works. If you have a bestbuy store or Walmart, they should have those for sale & see what fits your needs.

My brother had one with a laptop slot so he could carry that with him.

I didn’t have textbooks so I grabbed the first $20 backpack that could hold a laptop.

Edit

If Walmart has them, bring binders from the school section and see how many you can fit in the different models.

I don't know if there's a "best" one. And frankly I have no idea what "model number" the ones I've owned even are.

I got a medium-large one w/ a nice Laptop sleeve inside. My new one also has a tablet sleeve in a different pocket (I actually use it for storing books (novels) so I can read on the go).

This is the one I use for work and even used it for school and travel (I have the black one).  Durable as hell and tons of space and pockets.

You don't have to attach the extra MOLLE stuff and just use the bag and its is great

Maxpedition makes the best sling packs I've ever tried, I currently have the Kodiak. I expect their normal backpacks are just as good but with more straps. A bit pricey though...

I'm surprised everyone immediately jumped to Swissgear. That's not to say I don't think they deserve it, I have no idea (never owned one)... It's just not a company I would've ever thought to mention.

Where do you live? It could be a regional thing.

In Canada (Ontario, specifically), Swiss Gear is all over the place, sold in most shops (Staples, Best Buy, Bentley's, etc)

That could be, I live in Michigan.

I do see Swiss Gear backpacks, but I see a lot more from High Sierra and Oakley.

I used to have a swiss gear that I beat the hell out of through high school and finally retired it for the 5.11 Rush 24.

Dunno about longevity really haven't actually used it much. But it does have craploads of pockets and massive interior space, including a pouch for a water bladder or y'know... body armor plates.

All the MOLLE straps everywhere are pretty useful for sticking whatever else you want just about anywhere on the outside.

But Swiss gear is pretty reliable for cheaper too. Not as "full-featured."
