Does reusing plastic watter bottles cause cancer?

In general , is it unhealthy to reuse a water bottle?

In essence, refill it with water and drink from it .

Again i state it is a plastic water bottle

No. 

 

Only way a plastic bottle might cause cancer is if it has had significant erosion over time, causing microplastic particles to build up in whatever you're drinking. These can get caught in small creases or pockets along your digestive system and irritate tissues, potentially causing cancer. Though IMO the risk would be remote.

 

Single use water bottles are however manufactured to a cheaper standard which makes the plastic less resilient, so the aforementioned breakdown of the plastic over time could be a factor.

You should be using a metal bottle, as @Phentos pointed out the plastic will degrade over time and get into the water. However, there's microplastics in all water.

Is it worse for you, yes, will it be noticeably worse than any other vessel, not really. Just make sure it's BPA free.

Mmm...I hope not.  I've been reusing plastic bottles for years (not the same ones).  Example, a sports bottle you might use now and then.

 

Also, I strongly doubt it, although it's easier just to say that everything causes cancer so you shouldn't worry about it.

 

Think the big scare was with the baby bottles when they found some of them contained BPA.

The simple act of breathing can cause cancer, even if you breathe in the cleanest of air.

There is nothing wrong with reusing plastic bottles as long as they are BPH free (which water bottles made filled in the U.S. have been for years) and are kept clean.

 

I've been reusing them for years, filling them and freezing the water, then letting them thaw a bit before drinking so I have a large ice cube in the bottle to keep the water cool while I drink it (I keep seven bottles in rotation in my fridge). I do have to wash them from time to time by putting a drop of dishwashing detergent in the bottle, filling halfway with hot water and shaking vigorously, also taking a brush to the threads on the bottles and the caps to get rid of of any posible algae buildup, then rinsing thoroughly.

TL;DR when using for a longer time there is more micro plastic even in glass bottles.

 

Bisphenol A is not used in the European market for PET water bottles.

i do live in europe , so i guess im free of worries? Most ppl say ( here) that it doesnt really matter anyway so.... just go 4 it?
