Build-up on the Wall of the Reservoir

So I have a waterloop and some build-up has started to form on the wall of my reservoir. Coolant is a mix of distilled water and EK Cryofuel Clear. I already plan on draining/flushing the loop. My question is, do you think this build-up formed due to the fact that I didn't fill the reservoir all the way? I've checked the other parts of my loop and the build-up is only present in that location.

Any help is appreciated.

Doesn't look too bad might be some residue or something that wasn't completely cleaned out from the rads. When you drain and maintenance the loop inspect the blocks for any kind of build up or clogging just incase.

This, and when I recently serviced my brother's loop, I took the reservoir tube and cleaned it with a soft sponge and dish soap. The reservoir tube came out as if it were unboxed ?

I've had the same sort of residue (brownish, in my case) and made a topic about it. I got a similar response then.

However, I just noticed some of that same residue in my monoblock. Can we consider it harmless? Any advice?

Edit: Found this post. Can it be oil from the gaskets? http://www.overclock.net/forum/18067-ek-water-blocks/1633647-brown-yellow-stuff-my-supremacy-evo-near-rubber-gasket.html#post26215105

That's usually the oil or lubricant they use for the gaskets it shouldn't be an issue at all, most times they can be flushed out or clean off pretty easily when you open the block.

As others have said, I would assume this is just dried out components of the EK-CryoFuel. Growth would quickly be distributed by the pump.

I have a system that I haven;t topped off in a while and take a photo tomorrow for comparison, but generally I would recommend you to keep the reservoir topped off for this reason (aesthetics). I would imagine the loop is otherwise large in large fine.

When you can, please send a pic for comparison's sake. I'm not too worried about it but just want to have something to compare.

This situation was a blessing in disguise since now I was able to do a full teardown and cleaning of the GPU block.

Brown/Whiteish residue on the air-water interface. You can also see that the left side of my reservoir is cloudier than the right side, this is because i laid it on the side and gave some side to dry, leaving a coat of biocide/anticorrosive that didnt quite go back into solution.

Requires to be scrubbed in next maintenance. Aesthetically displeasing but no problems functionally. This is a 24/7 systrm that has been running for about 8 months now.

Thanks! It might also be from some of the blue coolant that was initially used in this loop. Definitely needs to cleaned and flushed better.

BTW, beautiful quad 1080Ti build!

Update: Drained everything. Cleaned the CPU and GPU blocks with a toothbrush and toothpaste based on JayzTwoCents' suggestion to Paul from Paul's Hardware, then rinsed with distilled water. For reference. It worked really well.

Rad was also drained and cleaned. For this I used a 50/50 mix of vinegar and distilled water, shook it to get every passageway, drained and rinsed with distilled water. Some of the previous blue coolant came out so that might have been the culprit. Repeated this twice, then rinsing with distilled water a couple more times to make sure. Currently running the full loop right now with just distilled water just to get flow going. I'm going to get some pH strips after work to make sure the acidity levels are neutral to check that all the vinegar is rinsed away.

Waiting for the EK Cryofuel to come in Sunday. Can I run it with just distilled water until then?

No problems for a few days.
