Just buy what looks nice and feels good. More expensive clothing just happens to be that way, but if you find a cheaper garment that looks the part then go for it.

You do you on how you want to style yourself, honestly.

I knew people who would show up looking nothing less than fresh and I knew people who could not give a shit about how they looked.

As with most things in life, there's a point of diminishing returns. A $125 shirt or pair of jeans will feel and look significantly better than something that costs $15.

It has more design to it, it's not simply cut in a more boxy fashion to fit more body types.

Material and detailing is also much more prevalent in more expensive clothing.

I don't like clothing with labels splattered all over it. I'm not a billboard.

I know some people who absolutely must have name brand clothing, I personally don't see the point of spending so much on clothing, if it looks good on me and is comfortable then I'm happy.

About 5% of my wardrobe is designer clothing, I don't care much for brand name clothing. You can look nice without overpriced clothes.

I have a few Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Lacoste polos that I like to wear. I do have target brand tshirts and hanes which I usually wear around the house, but am thinking about donating (most is old and doesn't fit too well). I just like to dress up in nicer brands when I leave the house. I'm starting to delve into other stuff and thinking about picking up some off-white and other designers, and streetwear such as Supreme. I also just bought a Bape hoodie to get ready for winter. I also will buy stuff if it's cheap yet looks good, like you don't need to spend $500 on a pair of distressed bleached pants when you can find the same thing for $50 just not from a famous/designer brand. Some prices are ludicrous such as this pair of designer jeans I want https://mikeamiri.com/collections/2018-denim-all/products/denim-cargo-black-wax, but some are justifiable.

I also love designer sunglasses, and am easily willing to spend hundreds, even maybe a thousand on a pair of sunglasses. I don't know why, I know they're just molded pieces of plastic, but I like them. They're fun to collect.

I'm not rich or anything, most of my designer clothes I got from thrift shops, as they sometimes come through, and if you go there daily you can find some good deals, typically $9 for a nice shirt around here.

I think designer shoes are cool but everything else I don't think matters imo like if I could rock it for sure would where white t-shirt, red fannel on top, jeans, with some fly shoes everyday tbh.

Thrift stores are the best, man.

I grabbed a $20 Twenty One Pilots shirt for like $2 from there. One of my best thrift store finds, I must say.

I don't personally care for designer clothing. I view it as some things Dave Ramsey talks about: you're buying things with money you don't have to impress people you don't like.

I'm also somewhat picky about clothing, in that if I don't like something, I'm not gonna wear it.

Designer clothes are also ridiculously expensive. It's just clothing, I don't get what's so important about it. The stuff I get cheaper is comfortable enough, and I'm okay with that.

I also look good(or so I think) in what I wear as my day to day outfit(which still doesn't change day to day).

Only shoes tbh. Never really spent less than 125$

Other than that maybe caps or gym gear. But Nike stuff is hardly expensive.

I love designer clothing as I can go on aliexpress, buy a shirt for $8 and sell it for $20 at school. ENTREPRENEURSHIP!

I don't care about designer clothing but I do care about classic men's elegance. Aside of computers it's actually my second passion and/or hobby.

Where people see grey businessman suit I see a sharkskin three piece suit made of 120's wool on full canvas with peak lapel jacket. I love looking at bespoke tailor ateliers. I have few Hermes ties and few other 7-folds.

I'd love to own a Tom Ford suit but where I live they don't sell them and it's very impractical to buy them online. For the overhead cost I can have a good made to measure suit made or even bespoke suit made here that will look better on me.

White shirts? Love'em. Turnbull&Asser is my favorite.

Shoes? Huge fan of Crockett&Jones, Edward Green and Vas. Favorite cut? A wholecut which is one of the most difficult to make and master.

I'll buy a particular brand when I know it's likely to fit, be comfortable and last a decent amount of time but most of the brands I buy are definitely at the cheaper end of the market. I really don't see the point in paying over the odds just so something has a particular logo or whatever on it.

I got my Twenty One Pilots shirt from a thrift store as well, it just made me wonder why they donated it. Hopefully it's because they lost weight and it no longer fit because it's an XL.

The one I found was actually the perfect size for me, makes me think it was donated because someone grew out of it.

I buy clothing based on country of origin and quality. I doubt anyone has heard of the brand of New Zealand merino wool shirts, Australian jeans made from European or Japanese denim i wear or the other artisan clothes i collect tbh but theyre better than anything short of Ferragamo but i dont pay $1000 a shirt or pair of jeans. Got some custom Italian Canali shirts which is designer ish but i never wear them. I buy made in USA Newbalance 900 series shoes as well. Not designer but you do see a lot of famous people wearing them off stage/camera.

I have lots of designer shirts. I don't care about designer pants because I tend to tear them really fast.

I like stylish designer shirts and the main reason for buying them is to have minimal chance of seeing people with the same shirt. I also dislike designer shirts which are literally screaming Gucci, Prada etc.

Regarding other clothes, I have a lots of Arc'teryx outdoor technical wear. That brand is super expensive, but quality and performance are superb. For outdoor clothes I also go with Patagonia for fleece and Mammut for various clothing pieces. Although some people make fashion out of outdoor technical wear, I don wear it in the city. Unless it is typhoon season so then I take Gore Tex jacket with me.

  • 1 year later...

If it's comfy and looks decent, I wear it. For shirts and hoodies, bonus points if it's an all-black, all-dark gray, or all-white (less laundry hassle).

Personally, I hate paying a premium for something just because it has a brand name stamped on to it. If a product has no other practical or redeeming qualities besides the brand name, I bite my thumb at thee.

Best clothes quality wise are your mid price stuff. So like you’re £20-40 jeans for example. Designer stuff you’re essentially paying for a logo, personally the closest I get to designer is TK Max where you can get £100 jean for £30 or getting Nike stuff in a sale but I wouldn’t count that as designer.

Don’t see the point in spending £150 on some Levi’s for the patch sewn onto the waist or £40 for a white shirt with an ironed on supreme logo. Rather get a shirt with something I like on it for £10. I mean I have black converse I’ve just replaced that I bought 8 years ago for £40 and wore to death. Why would I spend 5x on that for what’s trendy?

Honestly, about as high as I go are brands like Abercrombie, BKE, etc. Not sure if those are considered "designer" or not. They are definitely more expensive than the clothes you buy at Target or Wal-Mart but we aren't talking $300 shirts or pants here.

Honestly, I find the durability to not be particularly great compared to cheaper brands you find in Wal-Mart or whatever but they are WAY more comfortable and look more stylish. That's more important to me.

Useless. Give me cloths that:
1) Are comfortable
2) Reasonably priced
3) Durable
4) Did I mention comfortable?

Personally, I don't pay attention to fashion and really just don't care. If I gotta dress up, i will dress up in a suit or go business casual. Personally, my every day is either a polo or button down with jeans. Timeless, no hassle, comfy and not overly bothersome. Plus, i can get used jeans for CHEAP. If I want holes in my jeans, fine. $25 jeans + Rocks + rope + car = $300 dollar jeans.

Either that or I will wear them till there are actual holes in the knees. I did that to about 6 pair so far.
