I poured alcohol through the socket, it's not conductive paste so it should be ok

Holy shit, this is the least helpful thread ever (other than the needle and alcohol posts).

Be sure that the socket is completely dry before using a CPU in it.

So what you want to do is... Before you put your cpu in to the socket you need to empty a tube of Thermal Interface Material on to the socket. I prefer the zig zag method. Then just press the cpu down in to the paste and use the locking bar to secure it.  It should look something like this if you choose to remove it to check.
