Bequiet Powerzone 750w- Fan does sometimes not Spin

Brezzels

Dear LTT community,

as part of my refurbish plans for my case i finally have to get rid of this problem. The fan of my psu sometimes won't spin until i give it a slight push. I want to fix the issue by myselft, i know for germans at least there is a five years warranty but in my case, i dont want the support struggle. Here is the following problem with the specific powersupply: At first i thought the fan is easilly replaceble but unfortunally the screws have 10cm space aproximatly to each other and the fan it self is bigger than usually i will inlcude the exact messurements as soon as possible after releasing this post. Mabey it would be enough to glue it onto the rod again of the fan.

Please let me know since i want to reuse it in my nect Build and i dont want to just trow it away since it was not cheap nor do i want to create unessesary electrical junk

Specs:

Asus 87 plus

I5-4690k

Gpu: currently r9 290 (soon will be upgradet to 1080ti or 1180)

psu: 750w be quiet

ssd: 4

hdd 1

Ram: 2x 8gb

are you sure the fan is actually stuck or that the psu is not spinning up the fan because it doesn't need to - 4690k @ stock and R9 290 aren't huge wattage.

idk

Agree with the other two responses...there are plenty of PSUs that will only spin fans when they need to.  Feel free to look on the Be Quiet forums or ask their customer support though if you want.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.

The PSU is bad.  Either the fan or the fan controller.  If you replace the fan and it still doesn't work (because there's a problem with the fan controller), what will you do?

You're in Germany and beQuiet is a German company.  There should be no "support struggle".

@Brezzels bequiet support is  decent. Try the support first.

I already did once they said, just give it a push and it works again. They are right, but I get afraid of it since the meshify is made for running the psu upside down.

Btw this little sketch is drawn in m 1:4 just a Quickdraw and the frame is about 1.5mm. And also includes the fan itself

The psu itself has a fan controller but only for case fans, the psu fan itself is constantly running. I had asked that as well when I contacted bequiet but since I had the psu since 2014 I was sure it was always running

That shouldn't happen.

be quiet does NOT have any semi Fanless units at this moment.

And probably never will for various reasons...

I want to fix the issue by myselft,

Why?
Don't you have any warranty?
If you live in Germany and didn't throw away the receit or bought it off of ebay...

You can't replace the fan at all!
Because they use a custom frame and custom mounting...

i know for germans at least there is a five years warranty

And, depending on where you live, you have to wait only a couple of days.

If you are in Southern Germany (Baden Würthemberg or Bayern), you should expect something like 4-5 Work Days.

For other Parts its more like 2-3 Days.

Depending on how far away you are from Hamburg.

You really should try to RMA it!

And if it isn't even a Year old, they offer an Express exchange where you get the new unit within 48h at worst...

That's nothing compared to insides of TV I once saw which had been used in bar.

Pretty much all "smaller" (no SMTs in it) components on PCB were completely covered under black-brown goo of dust, smoke, tar and who knows what.

It looked pretty much like picture of smoker's lungs.
