MP3 Player needed.

Hi, my dad has asked me to find him MP3 player. He is one of those weirdos who prefers a player over his Galaxy S7 for music.

 

Since its a dark forest for me, I thought maybe some of you can make some suggestions. Nothing crazy, just something that has 8GB or more of memory and decent audio and battery. No more than 100£.

Used iPod? Apple sadly stopped making dedicated iPods.

Agree, and they are fairly cheap nowadays too, mid £20s from Amazon IIRC. I actually prefer the sound from my phone, plus it has the benefit of being able to use bluetooth.

Been using a Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip for probably 5 years now, for gym / outdoor running. Still works perfectly, battery lasts about 5 hours at loud volume. 

 

I never used the default firmware though, flashed Rockbox because it is more configurable and supports more audio formats (FLAC) I believe. 

 

Not bad for a $30 cheapy little mp3 player.

I think there's a Sansa device over at Wal-Mart for ~$20. 4 GB with MicroSD expansion (I think, don't quote me on that please).

 

Depending on what your Dad does (construction or something involving physical labor), having a cheap beater device for music makes a lot of sense.
