If you need to contact him use twitter or if it's actually important use the company email and his wife will read it.

Or just don't bother him because he's busy and has important things to do.

I haven't even messaged him once, so no.

I don't want to bother him too.

You want the truth?

You're just not important enough for him to care about. Linus is incredibly busy, between running his business and his family he has very little spare time and he's no going to waste his precious time responding to people he doesn't even know about mundane forum drama he doesn't care about.

Could you imagine if he tried to personally respond to every message he received?

They're also out of the country on travel at the moment so that amplifies the "too busy" factor a bit

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I view it as a question: if you could spend almost all of your time with real people and/or playing around with really expensive gadgets and stuff and/or flying around the world, would you really care to spend any time at all answering some random Internet-commenters' questions?

You're getting some really harsh answers here above ;)

I'll be a bit nicer :D

Depending on how busy he is, he will probably answer your question. However, I can imagine that his schedule is choked to the brim during this period.

If you haven't received any answer after a reasonable amount of time, you could consider sending him one polite reminder.

He's responded to some of my messages and even posted a comment in a thread I posted (which can be seen in my signature), you have to remember though that he is a busy man and has sometimes more important stuff to do.

Usually the only time I find to spend on the forum I am on my phone, so typing up messages is not very convenient and poor use of time compared to reading as much as possible to catch up on community sentiment and read up on what's hot in the news section.

Right now sitting in the airport in Taiwan (heading to China) and finally getting some food in my belly, so this is all I will type :P

Back to lurking :P

I guess it all depends on the question. Don't ask him stuff like "should I buy a GPU now or wait for the new generation" ie. a question that can easily be answered on the forum.

I have seen few people say that if you are respectful of his time and don't bother him with trivial questions, he will almost always answer.

I emailed Steve Jobs once. He never replied to me either. Then he died. Sad.

Seems like YOU killed him, by texting him.
