Yeah, but that does not really count! ;-)

The system should at least be able to power on and function “normally”.

And you haven’t tried to fix it since then? (Or find out what’s wrong?)

I sometimes experiment a little on my dad's old laptop he's no longer using. :) Has a Core 2 Duo CPU, Intel GMA GPU, 2GB DDR2 RAM, and a 240GB SSD I recently bought & put Windows 10 & Linux on.

I'd like to know, though ... whose MAIN / BEST computer is the oldest / lowest spec?  For example is there anyone here who's using, as their daily driver, a system old enough to not even support ATX, USB, PCI or IDE? :P

The ATX form factor of motherboards was developed by Intel in 1995.

The first generation USB; USB 1.0 was released in 1996.

The PCI bus is from 1992.

The first IDE interface (or ATA) drives appeared in Compaq PCs in 1986.

So I highly doubt that there is someone on a tech forum that still uses a system that old as his daily driver. xD

AMD Athlon XP 3200+

2GB DDR1 RAM

GIGABYTE 7VM400AM-RZ

ATi Radeon 9550 256MB

WD Caviar 80GB IDE HDD (8MB cache)

Windows XP and Windows 7

Crappy Thermaltake PSU

Crappy Beige Case

Siemens 1024x768 CRT Monitor

Can't even browse the internet smoothly. Scrolling through these forums is painful and runs at 2 to 3 FPS in both Chrome and Firefox. Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 runs at a solid 10fps on low. It boots quickly though (15 secs for XP, 10 secs for 7) and Windows XP and 7 run snappy. It's just web browsing that kills it. The processor only supports SSE1 instructions so most modern programs don't work. Windows 8 for example won't boot because it needs those instructions, although there are workarounds which I want to try. I might even get Windows 10 on it. Most Linux Distributions run terribly at 1fps or worse, I don't know why.

Workstation:

Intel Core i7 6700K | AMD Radeon R9 390X | 16 GB RAM

Mobile Workstation:

MacBook Pro 15" (2017) | Intel Core i7 7820HQ | AMD Radeon Pro 560 | 16 GB RAM

Any single core CPUs up in here? Anything below 1.2GHz (and 3GB DDR2) is acceptable. Also, where are the Intel GMA Graphics users? Any one with an old 2005/2006 MacBook (non-Pro) can jump on this ;) Don't ask how I know these things...

How about a 466MHz PPC G3? It's got 384MB (I think) of RAM and OS X 10.4.11.
