Posted May 21, 2018 I think on paper the 980 sli will be slightly better... however once you factor in real world performance 980 sli isn't enough better to offset dealing with sli. And this is coming from someone who has been running sli and crossfire exclusively since 2009. Posted May 21, 2018 SLI 980Ti would be better in most games. If you play games that are SLI compatible, go for SLI 980Ti. Posted May 21, 2018 SLI is not something that's really widely used or supported. Go for the 1070 ti, it's worth it. If you can afford the 1080 ti, even more worth so. If you can wait, you could see how the rumored 1180 turns out to be, it could release somewhere around summer, September worst case scenario, and that's if the rumors are true. SLI on average scales by about 70% if you exclude non-scaling games, and statistically, about 3 out of 4 games scale with SLI. This means SLI 980Ti can nearly match a 1080Ti in many cases. But again, this depends on the games you play, and the minimum frame rate and the 1% and 0.1% lows will probably be worse on SLI 980Ti. If you already own a 980Ti, I don't imagine it would cost you more than $300 to get a second one, which means getting a second 980Ti would be more economic. But if you want 1080Ti levels of performance, then wait for the 1180. An 1180 should perform at least as good as a 1080Ti for considerably less. Posted May 22, 2018 you guys act like two cards arent good or something. hes still going to be able to max graphics in games that support sli, thats the only limitation is support. I've been running two card and 3 for a bit in my system, and low end cards and theirs not a game i loaded i couldnt max out. not many games need more then 4gb ram, lets not forget. 1070 and 1080 arent the cure all to every gpu replacement. practically every thread ive seen here someone asking about another card, its always braught to just get a 1080 Firestrike i7-8700k @5.0GHz w/ 1.30v, Corsair h100iv2, Gigabye Aorus gaming 7, 16GB(8x2) 2666MHz ddr4, Dual RX470's OC'd to 1390mhz(atm) in corssfire - liguid cooled with corsair h60's, 3.25 TB in Samsung SSD's, anidees white crystal cube case Retired: i5-4440k @3.2GHz, gigabyte ga-z87x-ud5h z87, 24GB DDR3, 3x1TB Seagate Baracuda HDD.
