How is 40 dollars a month okay?

Also how old are you?

If you are 16 you can get a pretty decent job, i made about 20 € a day for  selling souvenirs, so look into local opportunities. Maybe even mowing grass is acceptable.

Oh this should be fun :P

Alright depending on your age your options may be plentiful.

Bellow 14:

Your kinda screwed :/ Keep doing what you do and perhaps just mow lawns for a while. Nothing wrong with it I did it myself :P

Between 14 and 15:

Depending on where you live you might be able to apply for a job. Nothing wrong with fast food as I myself am working at fast food for now :P Whats a 15 year old good for anyways xD

Other options:

You are going to have to be smart about this one, So ive made a crap ton of money by just buying and reselling. If your smart enough buying some broken electronics that the owner doesnt know has a dead simple fix and reselling it for a profit works rather well :P. Its highly risky but worth the amount of money you can make out of it xD

The average salary for a Newspaper Delivery Driver is $19,200 per year.

That's roughly 12/hr, so I'd say $40 is NOT ok, no matter where you're from

To answer your question though, a lot depends on age and time. As others have mentioned, you're limited by the legal working age, so without knowing more about you, I don't know how to advise you with jobs. As for other methods, You might want to look at places like freecycle.org where people post stuff they don't need but don't want to put in a landfill. You might be able to find or ask for old computers and frankenstein something, or at least salvage certain things from broken computer.s I did that when i was starting to learn for comptia A+. I made a post asking for computers broken or not that I could get my hands dirty with. I got about 4 computers, most broken in one way or another, but one was a working gaming computer from a gaming couple that had upgraded recently and this was just sitting in their closet gathering dust. The computer was pretty outdated, but I got some ram out of it, a GPU (I had never been able to afford a graphics card before), and a Full ATX case that I put my current 5th gen i5 and mobo into. Also got a 750 PSU out of it, and didn't need the crappy one that came with my asus prebuilt

Also look into the used market as best you can for certain things. While I would not build a computer with a used CPU, there are many parts I have no problem being used. Cases are usually fine after you blow them out, and hdd's can be reused, though they are so cheap now I'd still have a new one for your main drive and let used be the backup.

With regards to other ways, it all depends on your skills, your area and your age.

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.
