Nvidia 10 series with Mac pro 3,1

I'm considering picking a used 08 Mac pro tower. And was wondering if the 10 series gpus would be compatible? Nvidia recently put out official drivers for them under MacOs.

Yep it will work, no boot screen, so keep your current gpu. And you will be very cpu limited in most tasks and won't use the gpu fully for most higher end cards.

why not get the 2012 or 2010. they are much more powerfull. they should work as long as their is enough power from the PSU. 300W for PCIE for 2008-2012

Thanks, I’m not 100% on it yet but at least I know it’ll work if I do.

Mostly because it’s cheap and nearby.

What are you using this mac for? Those 2008's are getting a bit old now and id stay away.

yep. the 2010s+ are still great machines with up to dual 6 cores for cheap

Why do you want an old Mac Pro? Do you just like the Case?

I don’t have a really good reason for it. I’m basically just doing it because I can. I have sort of wanted a desktop Mac and really didn’t want to go with a mini or iMac.
