I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

ok power wise yes, but i mean that's comparing apples to oranges here. protege is meant to be light and sporty. lesabre is more straight line ish and plush.

That's understeer, man. And it can't be that bad where you gotta slow down so much just to turn, unless you going 85 into a curve.

How heavy exactly? From the outside those cars don't look too big.

Maybe I'm just making a bad guess; I don't frequently look up weights for cars. I was under the assumption that average weight for a sedan was in the 2,500 lbs-3,000 range. which would place the Lesabre at quarter of a ton heavier than most.

Edit: I guess that isn't actually the case. I haven't driven many different cars, so I don't have many things to make comparisons to.

Speaking of the GM 3.8, I forgot I had a Buick Reatta (1989) in bright red.

I got it from my mother when she passed away.

Solid motor, car was before its time with all the computer touch screen gizmos.

The computer that controlled all that was situated behind the driver's side pop up headlight.

So in even a minor crunch, it'd waste the computer. And they were unavailable at any price (I know, someone backed into my car...a tiny fender bender but just enough to kill the computer)

Their insurance company was not happy shelling out on that car.

Speaking of insurance companies:

My TVR 2500 was rear-ended at a very low speed, just enough to crack, slightly, the fibreglas bumper. Lady apologized and gave me her insurance information. GEICO.

Called them up, made arrangements to take the car to an adjuster who spent several hours trying to find out what the car was, and what it was worth.

In the end, she stroked me a *blank* check and said "I hope you have a good body guy"

Muhahahaha!

I'm pretty certain my body guy retired off that check.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

looked up the car on wikipedia, holy crap that car seemed far ahead of its time, with things like keyless entry, 16 way power seats (!!!), touchscreen interfaces. But what I wanna know was why did someone think it was smart to store the freaking computer right behind the headlight, where if something happens it's donezo? Surely behind the glovebox/dash would've been smarter, since if something happens up front, you don't render the entire system useless.

And how much did it end up costing to fix the bumper, labor and all?

You should look up how much radar cameras are, which must be mounted front and center of the car.

If I am reading your home right, you're in Latvia yes? I'd dearly love a Lada Niva. Here in Americanland we didn't get them (though I think Canadaland had them for a bit of time)

This would be great fun for my photography job.

Closest I can come is an old GMC Jimmy

But I doubt it's as capable off-road as the Niva.

Feel free to fax, or email me one please, I'll be happy to pay postage!

Yep Latvia!

The Lada Niva is surprisingly capable offroader for being that small and simple and having a 1.6l or 1.7l NA engine :D

FYI here and in the ex-Soviet Union it is known as VAZ 2121 ;)
