Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I see, I've always been weary of "custom" tunes going crazy with spark advance but as long as you know what you're doing go for it! Any reason you can't just up the boost and uncork the intake/exhaust? Can you monitor the knock sensor easily?

Not quite sure yet, still learning a lot about these cars. I'll find out in the future though

Oh they'll last you to the end of the season, it's just how much grip / you still have at that point in time :P Is it a square setup?

BTW which version of Harry's LT are you using?

im not using any version of anything right now. Started using my dad's go pro(sorry for "stealing" it dad lol) and the one button push to start recording is so convenient that I don't want to bother with anything else lol

Yeah that's true. The tires I have now I already starting to noticeably get a little harder after 1.5 season(s). Yes it's square, gonna do 205's all around with 6.5in wide wheels. (I'm staying in stock class, so wheel width has to match, though I can put as wide or narrow of a tire as I want on that wheel width). But yeah I see what you mean, all dem heat cycles. Plus it gets really hot here so have to keep that in mind too. Some people do say the RE-71R's don't last them a season though so that has me worried, but they are in bigger/heavier cars (And they ALMOST get a season out of them)

The intro.... xD

Ugh, those are a dime a dozen around here. I can't stand form over function...why do people cut their 8'x4' beds open to stick dual 10" stacks through them only to find out they can't put a piece of plywood in their 8000lb trucks anymore because they want to look cool. I like diesels, I like trucks, but goddamn it pisses me off when I see a truck unable to do truck duties other than haul a beer cooler in the back because of completely useless stacks. Worse yet is when a truck is so jacked up that the little 2" tow ball has to hang down a foot from puny 1" thick piece of aluminum in order for them to hitch their 500lb trailor that could be otherwise towed with a 4cyl ranger.

Don't get me wrong, there are some badass diesels around here, but I just see this shit way to often with people that could use a hyundai sonata for the same "duties" their 3500's do.

I love the guys who think their jacked up diesels can compete with a semi in towing.

Agreed. And again it's not like I don't like trucks, I just hate seeing them unable to do truck things because they want to look cool. If a guy's bed is unusable because there is a 5th wheel in there or something, awesome. I just don't like trying to look cool without actually being useful for anything but getting groceries or taking up 4 parking spaces.

Like in that first picture of my rant with the super fabulous shiny drop hitch, the dude has massive tires but that rear diff is still like 6" off the ground...good luck driving over anything that a stock jeep couldn't do.

Even the getting groceries thing is a bit of an eh thing if you have to toss them up to the seats because your truck is lifted too much.

I was thinking more of the ones that hang way down below the frame making it so that big lift is super worthless as far as driving over anything unless you want to high center on it, but yeah

I know this is a stock truck, but it kind of shows what I was thinking. FWIW, I see my rants have had mostly dodges in them, but I actually really like the straight 6/single turbo over the other ones.

Is it wrong that I was mesmerized by the shifter flopping around for the first two minutes :P? Seriously though, awesome driving that was badass! What are you going to do if you get more traction/power though...you might have to shift gears :o! Man that thing can turn, that was a lot of fun watching that.

Maybe an SRT8 300 if you're counting a Chrysler. Maybe an srt10 1500

I was just joking around, it's not like there is anything "dodge" on the stealth anyway :'D

haha, I still never did my shifter bushing (partly because I want to get the whole kit that has everything for the shifter so it's all new, and that's expensive). thank you! been working hard on being smooth and relaxed and you'll noticed I applied that pretty well on my third run compared to the others -- and got rewarded for it!

my friend matt also was co-driving my car (he's in the second run) and we are typically equal (within a few tenths.. but I was good enough today he beat his best time by almost 2 full seconds lol)

more power isn't going to happen anytime soon. Not till I have a real job lol (currently a 19yo college student... who really shouldn't be doing this but im too good at it and it's too fun to quit lol). As for traction, it'll be fine. Second gear is good for most corners, we typically don't have any third gear corners, only straights (and that's rare). So the extra grip will only help me, not hurt. But it's extremely hard to go up/down gears in autoX since you have to be so quick. Still faster than an auto though

Yeah that thing can turn! And I don't even know how because it has body roll for daaaaaaayssss

Is it a lot heavier than the hardtop, like did mazda put any extra bracing down there? I am still blown away how that corners, good stuff man good stuff.

I mean, I can shift through 10 gears on a truck without a clutch by rev/load matching all day long, but wow I would suck at autoX on my first go. DSMs don't really like to turn, or stop, or stay in a straight line under power (why did I get into these damn things xD)

hardtop? the hardtop attachment that you can get (well the OEM one) is heavier AFAIK

Yeah I can shift up/down all day long as well in my miata on the street. AutoX is tough though, if you go to third you already have to be planning how you're gonna get back down to second without messing up and unsettling the car... it's kinda scary almost tbh since you have to rev match so fast and so perfectly... glad I don't have to do it often

haha yeah cars that can maintain their balance is gold for AutoX.. you have to shift weight around so much. Very tough to maintain control if the car tends to be all over the place on weight-shifts (i.e. mustangs)

(bad pic yes... I was far away and this was at the very first event I went to just over a year ago.. mind you the guy was kind of an idiot) (but we don't use this parking lot anymore -- we have the big airfield now. sooo much better)

Oh are all of them convertibles or something? I was under the assumption that convertibles are generally heavier than their hardtop counterparts due to extra frame in order to try and combat said body roll, because of lack of rigidity from not having a top body structure.

The 2G eclipse gst spyder (convertible) for example is 180lbs heavier than the hardtop

really i only like lifted trucks when they actually have some decent ground clearance. and i wouldn't take a heavy duty diesel truck offroading, something a bit lighter duty, like a tacoma or even a 4runner (not a truck, but still based off a truck), with a decent 3 inch lift and some 33 inch toyo open country tires. but i agree, trucks that are lifted like crazy, but can't even travel over a boulder are flat out pointless. it's like they're trying to show off their nonexistent balls by lifting their heavy duty trucks to hell and back.

yeah all miata's are convertibles. If you see one with a solid top it's either custom or one of the OEM/aftermarket hard-top attachments. The car is designed to be a convertible and only weighs 2200-2400 lbs depending on the model

@MEC-777 you should immediately take those headlights off your car and clear coat over them so they don't yellow again. It'll happen faster since you took the factory coating off

In the kit they include a protective wax compound you apply after the plastX polishing compound to protect from further deterioration/yellowing etc. I'm curious to see how long they last before going dull again. Keep in mind, that was 300k+ kms of driving those headlights had been exposed to. Should be good to go now for a while. ;)
