How You Name Your Computer

MrAnchovies

Hi I've built a few computers and had a few more, but ive never gave any of them proper names (well a non standard name the os give your computer), so I was wondering how you guys name your computers if you even do.

Earlier I just thought up names...

Now I used the names of the game characters the user is known for...

Keeping in mind that those change over time...

one machine that is named by my main char in DAoC

the other two by names of my wifes chars... in regard of the time she used them.

Other devices at home I name caveman style... the laptop stone slate, the phone smokesign, etc...

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

Media System "Vio": Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5700X, 64 GB Ram DDR4 3200 Mushkin, 1 275 GB Crucial MX SSD, 1 tb Crucial MX500 SSD. IBM 5015 Megaraid, 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB HDD in raid 5, 4 WD RED 4 tb in another Raid 5, Gainward Phoenix GTX 1060

(Abit Fatal1ty FP9 IN SLI, C2Duo E8400, 6 GB Ram DDR2 800, far too less diskspace, Gainward Phantom 560 GTX broken need fixing)

Nostalgia: Amiga 1200, Tower Build, CPU/FPU/MMU 68EC020, 68030, 68882 @50 Mhz, 10 MByte ram (2 MB Chip, 8 MB Fast), Fast SCSI II, 2 CDRoms, 2 1 GB SCSI II IBM Harddrives, 512 MB Quantum Lightning HDD, self soldered Sync changer to attach VGA displays, WLAN

One of them is Networkstallion, because it handles my network, and the name was inspired by Hert's Twerkstallion:

I look to robot apocalyptic movies for inspiration. Skynet from terminator sounds good.

That's actually something I have been thinking about during a class haha. I only remember that I decided to give desktops the male names and the laptops the female names. I guess I would name my pc Lucas, and my laptop possibly Izzabella.

Sometimes I'll get a bit of an inkling and dub a build something. I'll call one the "blue build" or "whiteout" or whatever but I don't usually name my computers.

I named my PCs when I was younger after people, for example one of my computers is named Joel after a fictional character I was fond of.

My first smart phone I named Sparky because it had a tendency to zap me all the time for some reason.

My second car I named Lucky because my first car had so many problems. I've had the car for more than 3 years now and had zero problems.

My entire life is references to TV shows and Memes.

Dell OptiPlex GX1, Intel Pentium 3 @ 450MHz, 128MB PC133 RAM, Windows 98 Second Edition, Office 97' Professional

You should rename the thread title, because I found it hard to name my wifi channels. Some of them are quite unique looking at how my neighbors named theirs.

I name mine after pastries for some odd reason I currently have: Waffle, Pancake and Croissant.

My brother names his after his favourite artists albums and tracks: Ziggy, DiamondDog
