WHY DOSE LAPTOPS RUN SLOW

turn caps off.  It runs slow because it is likely overheating from dust build up.  If it has always run slow then it is because it has a crappy 5400RPM drive in it.

If you need legitimate help with something (other than the people being annoying above using the dreaded key of doom), you'll need to provide information, such as the specs and model of the laptop, as well as the actual issue.

Maybe run a virus scan and give it a clean, defragging may help....

It would be nice to know the spec though.

This is either a young child, a troll post or a PC beginner but here goes:

 

1) STOP TYPING IN CAPS

2) What are your specs?

3) Run ADWCleaner or something like that to check you don't have viruses/malware/registry crap/other bad stuff.

4) Have you ran disk cleanup and disk defrag to optimise and clean your drive of unwanted crap?

5) If it's shutting down randomly its either overheating or you're not charging your battery when it tells you to.

6) I'd recommend a cooling mat (can find them cheap on wish.com and such).

Security center is useless imo, doesn't do crap compared to even basic anti malware/decrapify programs.

Most computers don't even ship with 5400rpm drives in them anymore. Infact it's more common to see either 7200rpm drives, eMMc chips or SSD's in laptops now.

I've always found other programs just eat up unnecessary rss. You just need to be smart and avoid clicking the wrong thing when downloading programs. I've been downloading crap from shady websites since I was 12 (now 19) and know where they like to hide the actual download link your looking for.

I do believe that installing other programs may be a step to far as yet, at least using tools within windows is a starting point and a fairly easy one at that....

OP never said it was new.

If your laptop is overheating then it might be a virus or it could be sucking up a lot of dust.

That's why I don't use a full security suite, ADWCleaner is safe (its a standalone program made by malwarebytes) and it's solved the vast majority of the few crapware issues I've had over the course of having my own pc (though I have been using computers since I was 3 years old), rare times I've had to temporarily install a trial of malwarebytes suite to get rid of some stuff.

Thermal compound wise I'd recommend thermal grizzly cryonaut, keeps my temps low on all my systems, even 10+ years old ones like my server pc (the oldie) which is 12 years old and has a core 2 duo and my current system which is AMD FX based (and the FX series are notorious for high temps). Heck I even whacked it in my mums old laptop which is now a staggering 13 years old (fun fact: its the first computer I ever used at 3 years old) and that thing has a horrible pentium M in it.

Yes, that is also likely if it is an old laptop.

 

OP should do all the free and easy stuff first though.  Like dusting it out and checking the speed it should run at for it's given hardware.
