i7 6700k vs i7 7700k which one is better for gaming?

I'm going to build a gaming PC soon and I'm planning to get a GTX 1070 for my GPU, but I'm not sure if I should go for a i7 6700k or a i7700k. Which one is better for gaming?

Why would you go for those when the i7 8700/8700K is available?

Of course i7 7700K, because it's newer. They don't have a difference actually but still the 7700K is a little better. Also i7 8700K is MUCH better because it has more Cores/Threads

they're essentially the same chip, aside from a small clock speed bump on the 7700k

 

but as before mentioned, if you can get the range of 8700k, thats a nice juicy edge right there.

They both are almost identical in performance.

7700k leads by a very small margin because it runs at a slightly higher clock out of the box and can work with a slightly higher clocked RAM out of the box. It doesn't really matter as both can be overclocked.

7700k is a 6700k with mayonnaise below the IHS, it's not really better.

It's better because it's on 4.2Ghz out of the box. Of course if you overclock them they will have the same performance. At stock the i7 7700K is better. HAPPY?

Do people actually buy previous gen K chips and still leave them stock though?

Oooorrrrrrr a Ryzen 5 1600/1600X if just gaming and save a few bucks

Oooorrrrrr a Ryzen 7 1700 if gaming and maybe some content creation of some sort. If you can buy it on a sale, still cheaper.

 

I mean yes, Intel is still the king of single threaded performance but hey you can still get great performance on a Ryzen chip and save some money.

 

 

I got my Ryzen 7 1700 from Microcenter for $236 after tax.

 

But nah the 8700K is better but Ryzen is cheaper and just as good lol

 

Considering how expensive GPUs are, going over to an AMD CPU isn't such a bad deal lol
