CPU Cooler Performance Tier List

Good news! I am using AI optimized by asus with the setting attached, if you need other data tell me and obviously thank you:-)

Temps seem normal. An auto-oc like that will generally push as far as temps allow.

Silverstone Hydrogon D120 ARGB seems to be a good one:

https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=990&area=en

one review:

https://www.enostech.com/silverstone-hydrogon-120-a-rgb-cpu-air-cooler-review/

Seems similar performance to Gelid Phantom Black, but is asymmetric build leaves RAM slots open, like Scythe Fuma 2 does.

Given the opportunity to get a used U12A or a D15 chromax for $55, should I bite on one of them or just get a Peerless Assassin 120 for $41? I'm coming from a 224XT, and I feel like returning it for a higher end cooler that'll last me several generations instead. The D15 is too chunky for my build and due to my ram + case I won't be able to fit the front 140mm fan, however the cooler itself is already overkill for my current build anyway so I could probably sell the extra A15 fan to recoup my costs even more, which sounds pretty sweet

The NH-U12A is great as a cooler that can be used across several system upgrades. If you're keen on upgrading your cooler, it's hard to go wrong with.

If you're already satisfied with your current cooler's performance, there's not much point in replacing it though.

If you want something to actually last for generations, you'll want a chromax noctua. Since noctua will send you new mountings kits for the new generations and chromax so that the aluminum fins don't oxidize. Though I'm not sure how after service is for used noctua products.

If your cpu doesn't require a new cooler then I'll hold off on getting a new one. There will always be a new killer cpu cooler like the pa120 or fc140.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

FOMO got the best out of me and since the noctua dudes stopped replying to me, I bought the PA120 last night as I just couldn't say no to paying an extra $11 over my 224XT. Hopefully next gen CPUs have similar mounting kits and Thermalright's blown up in the states by then so they'd be more likely to offer that kind of support here.

edit: This thing is the shit, lowered both my idle/load temps by 5-10c and using the same fan curve, the fans don't even ramp above 50% while running cinebench so it's really quiet to me.

Can't confirm without reviews but I wouldn't be surprised if it performed well.

I believe this ^ should be at the OP just to avoid confusion, on the PSU tier list we have cost friendly PSUs on the Tier 1 and 2, like my Corsair TXM was not the most expensive one of the list by a far mile but is still awesome value for its performance and made it to the Tier 1... this list as is could potentially make noobs uneasy depending the case [:

Cheers!

the evga clc 280 is a tier 2 AIO and i got mine for 100 dollars, in fact the only 280 on tier 1 cost 160ish... so it looks purely based on performance... and if you googled everyone on tier  1 and 2 im sure you can find affordable ones... evga 280 for 97 dollars was exteremely affordable for that type of clc

Coolers in Tier 1 perform better.

Yes, it tends to outperform coolers in lower tiers.

The MasterLiquid ML360L ARGB White Edition V2 seems to be available in Asia markets. https://www.coolermaster.com/my/en-my/catalog/coolers/cpu-liquid-coolers/masterliquid-ml360l-argb-v2-white-edition/

Just a question.

Why is the Akasa Venom Voodoo above the Arctic 34 Esports Duo?

From Kit Guru.

Phenom II x6 1090T. Thuban's temp ceiling is 62c.

Now we are running at 4.0 GHz. The Akasa Venom Voodoo survives at 4.0 GHz but the temperatures are getting to the point that I would not be comfortable with for long periods of time. With fans @ 1000 RPM the CPU peaked at 61c and with the fans @ 100% we still reached 59c. While this is not immediately going to cause our system to fail we would prefer lower temperatures under load.

Once we increase the speed of the these fans the noise level raises considerably. With the fans running at 1900 RPM they registered 51.4 dBA on our digital sound level meter. Quite painful really.

https://www.kitguru.net/components/cooling/steve-ruxton/akasa-venom-voodoo-cooler-review/6/

34 Esports Duio.

i9 9900k

Even more impressively in our initial 4.7GHz overclock test, the Freezer 34 performs even better, leapfrogging two more 240mm AIO coolers with a load temperature of just under 51°C Delta and way above its closest rival the Cooler Master Hyper 212.

Rather surprisingly in the 4.9GHz test, the Freezer is holding firm. Again, performing better than two 240mm AIO’s we have tested and almost 3°C cooler than the Hyper 212 Black Edition.

In our noise levels test with fans at 100% speed, the Freezer 34 measures a respectable 42.7dBA which puts it mid-table in our charts. It was noticeable during testing, when the fans are in there PWM low speed mode, they are virtually silent. Considering how well the Freezer performed in thermal testing, this is quite an achievement.

Seems the Arctic is in a totally different league...

Testing conditions should be as similar as possible to make useful comparisons. These tests are done very differently.

Direct comparisons between coolers that differ this much in age are rare.

Here are some tests that might better explain why the Voodoo is placed where it is.

It seems like a good cooler for a good price.

Most of the comparative data I've seen are from Asian reviewers.

There doesn't seem to be a better option for the price.
