Is the GPU rise ending ??

Just went on amazon (UK) just to check the daily deals, and in my wishlist I saw that ASUS have the 1080 coming back in stock on feb 10th for normal price, Is the GPU rise finally coming to an end, what do you guys think ??

Edit - Click on 4 sellers and it shows the cheaper price, I can only think because its not in stock yet

Says for £581.37 when you scroll down to the Bundle area, with the Mobo and i7-7700k cpu. 

 

but could just be amazon be kind, temporarily 

Some people prefer a challenge, I just band my head against a wall until my method works...

even if they bring them back towards msrp they will most likely sell out within a few minutes

Strange. Might be a geolocation thing.

Anyways, I suspect this batch will be fully bought by cryptominers, it will take a bit until it will be back to normal in terms of pricing.

they should just sell kits with them gpu's but then people would sell off everything but the gpu and mine, but it sure would get rid of children buying just a gpu.

that's not a bad idea, I think that's the reason im hearing people buy pre builts with their chosen graphics card and then selling and upgrading the rest

But what about people upgrading PCs who need just the GPU?

This paired with RAM because we all know how ridiculous that is,

Pair the GPU with RAM maybe in a package you can choose it will maybe deter miners

or maybe if they bump the price up £100 and supply a £100 steam key or something like that,

Tell you what might be a good idea,

Nvidia say that any new GPUs from this point have been altered to be useless with cryptomining, it maybe a lie but would someone spend 100s on a card that may or may not be crap

Wouldn’t work at all. Nvidia and AMD are to blame 80%. They could easily pump out more GPUs but they are scared

Actually, from what I understand it's the board partners who don't want to be caught with a warehouse full of gpus if cryptocurrencies crash. So no, Nvidia and AMD could pump them out, but no board parter wants to buy them at all.

The unpredictability of cryptocurrencies is the root of the issue. If it was clear that cryptocurrency mining would be viable for say, the next five years, then the required cards would be produced, and prices would go down. The issue is that board partners don't want to order thousands of cards (which would fix prices) but then have the demand for them (miners) suddenly be reduced and then be left with all those cards on shelves, especially when new releases are coming soon (namely Volta around september).
