Unless you have ddr4, you will need to get ram aswell, if you are getting a new cpu.

Imo go with cpu,ram if needed and psu. and if there's left overs get a case.

1600 and 8400 are about the same price, but if you are playing in 1080p go with the i5

''Daddy CumTits 2.0'' (pc):

CPU - Intel i7 8700k

GPU - Asus Strix 1080 8gb

RAM - 2x8gb Corsair Vengance

MOBO - Asus Prime Z370-p

PSU - Corsair RM750x

First, I would wait to see Ryzen 2, at the very least it will drop prices on last year's Ryzen. Personally I would go for the 8400, it has a little better performance it appears. Also, don't upgrade your PSU, better spend that money in another 8GB of RAM which you will need more. And see about getting an SSD, at least 120GB for OS.

Yes my ram is DDR4 and if i buy an 8TH gen cpu i must upgrade my Mobo 2.So what do you suggest.Should i buy A Z370 or wait for The B-H series?

maybe stay with the MOBO and just upgrade to i5 or i7 non k (core i 6000 series is not outdatet)

550W should be enough

I know its not outdated but is it worth it and is it future proof??I7 has 4 cores and 8 threads while the i5 8400 has 6/6.I will think about getting an 6th gen i7 cuz your point is right.I wont need a new mobo so i can spend these money on an ssd or smth.

Do you suggest me waiting for the new Intel's cpus?Oh and do you have any suggestions for a cheap SsD?

I wouldnt bother waiting for b and h series just to pay 30 to 40€ less. Just pick the cheapest z370 chip board that is available, they are all quite high quality.
The one i have is asus prime z370-p and ive not found any issues with it

well id drop in an I5 6600 and a new GPU tbh, the other parts arent that worth upgradeing. sure the PSU isnt great but its not a disaster either

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I would just get like a Samsung EVO 850 250GB, they're about $90 USD, and I wouldn't wait, there will always be something new around the corner, you can spend your whole life waiting to have the best and never get anything. Technology evolves too fast for that. Whatever you buy now will be old in a couple of months. I bought my 6700k last year and it's already 2 gens old...

Don't mind me dropping in, but since Ryzen+ is scheduled for February, I think you should wait for then to get the equivalent to the Ryzen 5 1600. You could get the 1600 now if you can't wait. Buy a chipset that supports overclocking, it's not too difficult to overclock nowadays. Your VS550 power supply is perfectly fine for your system, so you don't need to replace it unless it is dying. Also, you might want to consider getting a 1500X or it's Ryzen+ equivalent just for gaming, but the two extra cores of the 1600 for not a lot more are a good deal.

Or you could go with the i5 7400 as some have suggested, but your psu is fine. I just think 1600 or the ryzen+ equivalent are more future-proof because of the 6 core 12 thread layout. AMD has also promised long processor support on their AM4 motherboards, and has shown that they have long support on their previous sockets (AM3, FM2). Intel has not shown that, and you have to replace your motherboard after you're done with the i5 7400.

Those who say Corsair VS PSUs are good or accpetable needs some 're-education', as Communist governments call it. That is a fire hazard, both the orange and grey label one. Considering that a PSU is as important to a PC as a heart to anyone, you should change it out to something a lot better. There's a PSU tier list in the PSU subforums here, check it out and pick one ranked tier 3 or above.

For the CPU, any 6th or 7th gen (this needs BIOS update) i5s are good enough since you stay with a gtx 1060. Look for the used market, since 8th gen encouraged many to upgrade from their 6th/7th gen system.

Then slap in an SSD as boot device. This depends on what money you have left really. Crucial MX300 275GB, Adata SU800 256GB and Samsung 850 Evo 250GB are all good, though you should get their 500GB version if you can afford it.

CPU: i7-2600K 4751MHz 1.44V (software) --> 1.47V at the back of the socket Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (BCLK: 103.3MHz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: Adata XPG 2x8GB DDR3 (XMP: 2133MHz 10-11-11-30 CR2, custom: 2203MHz 10-11-10-26 CR1 tRFC:230 tREFI:14000) GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual (Super Jetstream vbios, +70(2025-2088MHz)/+400(8.8Gbps)) SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (main boot drive), Transcend SSD370 128GB PSU: Seasonic X-660 80+ Gold Case: Antec P110 Silent, 5 intakes 1 exhaust Monitor: AOC G2460PF 1080p 144Hz (150Hz max w/ DP, 121Hz max w/ HDMI) TN panel Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Cherry MX Blue) with SteelSeries Apex M260 keycaps Mouse: BenQ Zowie FK1

not a single RAPEX datapoint for corsair

Dont buy because of the brand name. These are business people, willing to do anything legal to make money, without concern to morals.

https://www.hardwareinsights.com/corsair-vs450-review/4/

Corsair isnt the producer of any power supply, they just handle their design to other OEMs and let them fill in the gaps on which exact component to use. That's why some are good (like RMx, TXM), while some are shit (VS, old green label CX). Same goes to other names like Thermaltake (Tt), Cooler Master and so on. There are also brands which take others design, swap the exterior, and boom they get a new product, like EVGA, which also leads to some PSUs being crap while some being great. For these names, their PSUs need individual reviews.

Here's more info for this

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-oem-manufacturer,2913.html

If looking up to every PSU is tiring, check out the PSU tier list here on the forums.

@Jurrunio vs450 and vs550 are not the same: http://www.corsair.com/~/media/corsair/download-files/manuals/corsair-psu-spec-table.pdf

i won't say that the vs550 are great but not awful, it still have protection and gone through certification. Why fire hazzard?

ps: your link says can delivere more then 450W, well thats the peak power for the vs450, nothing you should handle as continus load

The problem is the unreliable capacitors. They blow often, which means all the ripple filtering are gone. This causes spike in voltage which can cause damage to the PC components.

I call these official material bullshit because companies never list weaknesses out. Those open-shell reviews I have linked are what I trust.

As for VS550 and VS450 being different enough to not be awful... You should give proof on that statement. Usually the entire PSU series are made by the same OEM sharing many components.
