Opinions Wanted on Personal Rig Plan

Hey, everyone!

 

I've been wanting to upgrade my current PC for a while now; I bought it from a friend of mine almost 10 years ago, and it's in desperate need of an upgrade. I watched a whole bunch of LTT and TechQuickie videos for research, and I think I've come up with something pretty decent, but I want to know what you all think:

 

•   Gigabyte GA-AB350-GAMING 3 AM4 ATX AMD Motherboard

•   AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core AM4 Processor

•   Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050Ti G1 GAMING 4GB GDDR5 Video Card

•   G.Skill Aegis 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-2400 PC4-19200 CL17 Dual Channel RAM

•   Inland Professional 240Gb 3-D V-NAND SATA 3.0 6.0 Gb/s 2.5” SSD

•   Toshiba P300 1Tb 7200RPM SATA III 6Gb/s 3.5” OEM Hard Drive

•   TP-LINK Archer T6E 300Mb/s PCI-E Dual-Band Wireless Adapter

•   Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML120L RGB Water Cooling Kit

•   EVGA 450BT 450W 80-Plus Bronze ATX Power Supply

•   Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 5 ATX Mid-Tower Case

•   Cooler Master MasterFan PRO 120 Air Balance RGB Case Fan (x3)

Throw away the liquid cooler: Ryzen's heat can be handled by the stock cooler even when overclocked high. Besides, there are other things to improve which needs that money.

 

Throw away that power supply. All EVGA PSU with 80+ Bronze or below rating are bad, other than B2. If you are in the US then the CX550M is the best deal

 

Get a cheap 1060 3gb. The cheapest goes for 180US each, but has 40% extra frame rates than GTX 1050ti. Not even the less than desired VRAM can offset this major advantage

Arent they on the same level? Gaming 3 uses 4+3 phase while Prime Plus uses 4+2 phase

I know the Wraith Spire Max is pretty good, but is that true of the standard Wraith Spire, too?

I heard the gaming 3 has overheat issues while this one didn't. I don't know anything about VRMs, though, ask @dave_k

I'd change the board to Prime X370 Pro.

Difference between B350 Plus and Gaming 3 is created by different heatsinks and thermal pads. Thermaly (in W) the VRMs are roughly equal

How much of a thermal difference are we talking with those boards? Won't the three 120mm intake fans help with that?
