DDR3 Ryzen Motherboard

Hi everyone, 

my friend needs a PC upgrade, and I was going to get him Ryzen but he has DDR3 RAM and RAM prices skyrocketed. I was wondering if there were any DDR3 Ryzen boards that also support DDR4.

Nope, best option for DDR3 is fourth gen intel extreme.  If you can get an x79 board you can get a 6 core 12 thread CPU capable of 4ghz++

 

Or a 4790k, very good chips to this day

No, Ryzen doesn't support DDR3 RAM, because it doesn't have a DDR3 memory controller.

get an used i7 4770~4790 (k and non k) system instead to make use of ddr3

I think there is a Skylake board with DDR3L other than that you are out of luck.

I don't believe you'll ever come across a motherboard that can support two different types of RAM because they are physically different.

I mean, this was a thing years ago with DDR2/DDR3 LGA 775 boards, but it probably won't ever happen again. They just had two sets of two slots though.

get him a 4th gen Intel system instead, get an I7 4790K and Z97 motherboard, should be about €350 or so for those if not less

Yes, but 1.5V DDR3 memory on a DDR3L memory controller is a bad idea.

wish Ram was backwards and forward compatible but then DDR4 sales would be shit and you know companies need that sweet $$$$$$
