So a friend of mine (he is an idiot) just bougth a GTX 480 for 550€.

Panda of the Shadow

I'm sitting here rigth next to that idiot and i already showed him benchmarks i showed him GPU Boss all kinds of stuff but he still thinks that that GTX 480 is an awesome deal. Now the funny thing is a 780 ti cost just about 20€ more. Since he won't trust me could you guys please tell him that he is being a retard and that he should bring the card back to the retailer and get a 780ti?

Your friend can't be helped, it would be best just to put him out of his misery and then shake the hand of the person who sold him that 480 because he is the most terrible person on the planet.

Please revoke his master race badge and supply him with an adequate console, such as a PSP.

I just offered someone $50 and some other items laying around for a GTX 480 and would not offer much more than what I did.  Your friend is nuts op but hey make him a semi-friend and sell him stuff that is overpriced and make some extra cash. :)

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

The 660 non-ti is more powerful than the 480 and it is a mid-range card of last gen. The 480 was a beast card. WAS. 3 generations ago. Your friend is derpy.

A 660 is about as fast as a 480, everything else past a 660 embarrasses a 480 your friend does not deserve a PC.

The 660 would have more memory though, so while they are the same speed in some games the 660 generally performs a bit better in more highly demanding ones.

Quick, offer to sell him a 480 for 25 Euro less.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Could be worse, he could have bought a picture of a 480...

Ah man, I was just about to make that same joke!

This guy is still an idiot though. I think you should let him use it and complain about how he's not getting as many frames as what he would probably a lower card like a 670.

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

Yeah, 480 is still a good card though - gave my old one to my brother and it's still more than capable of playing them at decent settings.

It's just not worth £500...

It is a good card. For $150. That is the average price on ebay.
