$500 Dollar Gaming Rig That Can BEAT Next Gen Consoles.

Ok So my friend needs help, he posted this on teksyndicate just then, he hasn't gotten any replies yet which to me seems odd (seeing im on here most of the time)

Here is the thread post contents

Criteria/aim/want

Has to run planetside 2 on max (includes GPU PhysX I have a knack for this game and my laptop barely runs it)

Runs most new games at a minimum of 30FPS at high to max (by max I mean Ultra)

Must be flexible ( By flexible I mean able to be easily upgraded in the future with no conflicts)

Budget 500 but it can go slightly over

All money goes to the rig not the mouse monitor etc

Able to take to lan partys

might add more criterias' later but this is a basic layout

Random side notes that might make me slightly more happier (Not too important)

I don't know why but I have a knack for Intel Asus and Nvidia stuff.

Doesn't really need a DVD drive I can get it from an old rig

Hardware able to last

Might add more side notes

Get a console. Currently, a PC cannot match what a console gives in terms of graphic fidelity, you have to wait 1 to 2 years for that. Unless you're interested in picking up used components from eBay. That would be the only viable solution.

There is nothing called a console killer at the price of a console IMHO so get a console.

You will not be able to play anything at Ultra and very very few modern games on high with that budget.

Sorry to break the idyll :(

Consoles don't really max out anything either, if we wanna go that route. :P

Dunno about beating the console, but if you can hit 1080p @ 30FPS on medium settings, you more or less have "next gen" console power at the very least. Outside of gaming, the PC built will at least have things like a browser that doesn't suck.

You realize the consoles sells at a LOSS. The ps4 is sold at $399 while it is estimated to have $460 worth of hardware. To add to that games are hardware specific optimized for the consoles. So in no way are you going to build a "console killer" in that price range.

Doesn't really have to be a console killer I just want it to be near strong as one but thanks for the feedback

About that... If he doesn't want to do any Overclocking you can just use the Stock cooler?

Haven't really had much experience with AMD CPUs. He is also going to be playing at 1280x1024.

Ah, still applies. He might get on par or a little higher, but maxing is not going to happen, especially for newer demanding titles.

This will be fine for him. Trust me the stock cooler is loud.
