Which of these M.2's is better?

I want to buy a M.2 SSD at a local store, the ones that are in my pricerange are the  WD 250 GB Blue™ M.2 2280 and the WD 240 GB WDS240G1G0B M.2 2280, which one is better and why?

What about the MX300?

 

The Blue gets my vote. Better controller, more space.

I wanted to get the 850 EVO but my local store doesnt have them in 250gb, only 500gb and up. And thanks for the help! (what does the controller do if i may ask?)

Note that both are SATA SSDs in M.2 form factor. It's nowhere as fast as NVMe ones.

 

Out of the two, I choose the Blue. The other one is a WD Green and those are one of the slowest among SSDs

It controls all of the functions and logic of the drive. How the NAND is allocated, how TRIM is run, how things are scheduled for execution, etc.

Wait, its not nvme? Now im really confused, does that mean its a normal SSD just smaller and without the benfits it would get from nvme?

Those are both SATA M.2 SSDs. If you want NVMe, the WD Black is what you're looking for.

Yes, the only good thing is that they dont take up a drive bay in your case and you will pay extra for that.

Oh well, i thought if the SSD's are M.2 that their NVMe aswell, sadly the NVMe SSD's arent in my pricerange, what regular 2,5" SSD would you recommend for 80-100€?

WD Blue can still have my vote, but what's the price on the MX300 275GB? You can still get an M.2 SSD.

Samsung 850 evo is the fastest in its class and it's just a bit more expensive than the MX300. I'd recommend that.

Alrighty thanks! I got myself a WD Blue 250GB as it was cheap than the MX300 and you recommended it (i sadly didnt have enough for the 850 evo  ) See you soon!
