GTX 970 and 1060 3GB have about the same performance and also about the same VRAM (3GB vs 4GB, or 3.5GB of fast memory on them respectively).

I don't see a reason to pay the same for a pretty much the same speed card that is used.

Now say the GTX 970 was like.. 150 USD? That's a different story. But as is, the GPU market just above the GTX 1060 3GB is kinda.. Screwed up, so my judgement may not be 100% correct.

I would try to go for a 1060 6GB for $50 more ($250), depending on your location of course it could be higher in which case I wouldn't bother

I'd only pay that much USD for a 980 or 980ti used cards but that only my opinion.

Where are you from? I'd get the GTX 1060 being frank, I want to say that 200$ is more of GTX 980 pricing but I do not know your country offerings.

Above

If OP has to pay $260 for a 1060 3gb then 1070ti will be out of his reach.

970 gains more performance when overclocked than 1060 3gb can, so these two are considered as the same class

980 is a bit faster than 1060 6gb. If it's not for the extra VRAM 1060 6gb will be in the lower class.

You arent answering OP's question reasonably anyway

1070ti replaces 1070 price point, you think both cards are going to be the same price? It will push down the prices of all cards below it, or maybe not, but it will push second hand card prices down, it already is.

Wait for the new release and all the lower end cards will drop.

Op don't buy wsit a week and maybe the 1060 will be cheaper, for sure you could be able to get the 970 for near 100

Even if its what op is going off of, recommend a better option always especially if uts a minimal increase in price, as for second hand i mean you can make money off it lol, and I've only had good experiences with deals that went through, you can kinda just tell if it's good or not by the person
