Steam Goes if you die? How do they know your dead?

Presumably they do this if someone officially notifies them of your death (eg a family member), and can provide proof of death. 

 

In 99.9% of cases I assume they do nothing, as they have no way of knowing. 

 

I'd personally give my account away to someone I knew were I to pass away.

Your account doesn't get automatically deleted if you die, although I'd assume Valve would do something about it if someone legally proved your death.

Case in point: kitty0706's account (gmod youtuber who died of cancer around two years ago)

I think that's against their rules, I've heard that they'll shut it down if they detect that.

Valve only tends to care if you sell your account to someone else.

Thu littelty have no way of knowing unless they takes pictures of you via webcam every time you log in.

 

even if the up is different they would assume ou moved or are not at your house rather then oh look they sold an account.

 

and OP they don’t but I would think if a family member contact a valve and asks and can give all needed Infovto prove who owns the account then they will delete it.

You must show your medical record.

The "Tell us once" legislation informs all companies that need to government wise that the person is deceased and other companies would have ways of checking with the government databases

 

But even still they don't delete your account if you die; i know this as i had to go through this when my brother died almost 2 years ago
