Should i wait for the gtx 1070 prices to go down

SETÄ #1

I am building a new gaming rig, but the gtx 1070 prices are ridiculous due to mining. I think I should use my old GPU for the new rig temporarily (750 ti) and wait for the 1070 prices to go down.

Parts for the new rig:

CPU: I5 7500

MOBO: Asus prime b250-plus

RAM: Corsair vengeance 2x4gb ddr4 2666

Storage: Sandisk 120gb ssd + some 1tb hard drive

PSU: Corsair CX650M

GPU: gtx 1070 or 750ti?

Case: Corsair 270r

GPU pricing is more than likely not going any where down, the demand has been bigger than stocks for quite a while and nothing suggests change in the scenario, even with cryptocurrency craze slowlying down.

Why on earth would you still be considering KabyLake? Coffee Lake.......

CPU: R5 3600 @ 4.4 GHz

RAM: 16GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHz

GPU: RTX 2080 Super

well crap

You might consider finding a good deal on a used GTX 980Ti. It's pretty much the same/better performance as a 1070 and 980Ti prices are not as elevated due to mining because they draw more power and thus are not as compelling to miners :P

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

I would consider finding a good deal on a used 980ti, they usually go for around $300, and they usually perform the same or even better than the 1070, the 980ti prices are less inflated than the 1070s and 1070 prices can go for $400+ depending on what you are buying. I dont think that we will have a price reduction from their original MSRPs anytime soon, and considering their price inflations, gtx 1080s are around the $500 mark, but if not a little bit higher.

Motherboard prices and availability. It looks like OP wants a budget i5 with a budget motherboard. While retailers have the i5 8400 in stock, OP needs to spend at least $120 to pick up a compatible motherboard.

But he's made it clear with the title already that he's willing to wait, for a GPU at least.

Yep, you're right. If he can wait until early next year, then I also recommend Coffee Lake.

Otherwise, Ryzen 5 > i5 7500 for the time being OP. And a used 980 Ti can remedy the situation

TBH I'm waiting for black Friday. I've saved up like £1300 for my yearly tech binge now I'm employed (I'm only 16) I've been saving for like 7 months. Going to be alot of fun on black friday/cyber monday this year.

I would go for a 980ti for around 300. I myself just picked up a hybrid for 330. I saw a reference go for 270 too. Be patient if there's nothing now

Try a 1050ti that’s what’s in my rig.
