Amd rx vega 64 outperforms 1080ti in forza 7

So far AMD's been doing really well in dx12. It's been really surprising to see AMD being competitive for once.

This is what we wanted to see when we first heard about vega. To come out and beat the brakes off the 1080 and compete with the 1080ti. If this is indication of things to come im really excited.

"So it appears there’s some magical driver wizadry that AMD has done to take advantage of the multi-threaded nature of DX12

^this needs to continue lol

Still very far from worth it, the GTX 1080ti is guaranteed performance, Vega is hit and miss.

Right now V64 here in Brazil still is priced as much as the 1080ti and at best you're getting stock 1080 performance something I already have since 2015 with the TITAN XM...

Vega already lagging behind nVidia with its latest product and it only has another 6ish months now before Volta, not sure if it is enough time to become best offering with driver fixes, AMD might have succeed nicely on CPU side but it didn't perform well on GPU side this year.

*At 1080p with 8x MSAA, lets be real who is playing at 1080p with a 1080ti? also I seam to remember Gamers Nexus showing some strange results in like Dirt Rally as well where if you set MSAA one way it stomped everything on the planet but another way and it got its ass beat, so what I'm saying is I wouldn't read to much into this and that you need to remember how random settings can tank framerates on certain cards and "tune" your game settings to your card

Thats true, i doubt people are playing 1080p with a 1080ti but im sure there are people out there. However its not so much as an incentive to go out and buy a rx vega now (prices are still too fubar) But this is still a possible sign of things to come if AMD can continue to make strides with dx12 games.

You do know that Vega is supposed to take on the 1080 right? Not the 1080ti. Prices are messed up because people use them for mining.

So when Vega outperforms a 1080ti that is true fine wine. When a card like the 1080ti beats Vega thats not a surprise because Vega wasn't supposed to be better than the 1080ti.

if they can keep it up and a BUNCH of games see these kinds of improvements, then for sure, it will help offset some of that electricity costs, problem is it's not going to help any games people are currently playing outside of these 2 specific games. is an increase at lower resolutions worth paying that much higher a cost for?

Well its even ahead at 1440p as well according to this benchmark. And then slightly behind (7fps average) at 4k. If the prices were to stabilize ever, a $500 card keeping up or beating a $750 card is beyond worth.

In one extremely specific setting in a configuration hardly any one with a 1080ti or V64 will be playing at, if you need to appeal that hard to talk about "fine wine" so much I really think ye should think twice.

They didn't originally price the vega64 at 600+... supply and demand is a thing. vega 64 was never intended to compete with 1080ti and you can see that based off the MSRP at launch. As far as the "extremely specific settings" did you not scroll down and look at 1440p and 4k? Its right.. there... But to each his own.
