Need a New really long desk for computer PC Setup

xXWickedXx

Okay, so i'm buying a new 55" 4k TV as my computer monitor and i need to know the best really big desks that will fit one of these bad boys on there, Im looking on amazon but id like to hear from some input from everyone on here, what are some good wide desks for computer setups? gotta be at least 55" wide. more is better. I have yet to find a desk that can hold my PC and my TV lol i know its probably asking for too much i have my PC on a side table currently (See pic belowVV)

Rather than try to recommend an exact desk that will fit your room, I will recommend a method.

IKEA sells the HAMMARP countertops for relatively cheap. You can get them in several lengths. Pick up a section that's as long as you need. Then just find something to hold up either end. Your choice of legs, poles, file cabinets, maglev, etc xD

Optimal viewing distance for a 55" screen is between 5.5 to 8.7 feet

Personally I use a 3-wide besta TV bench as my "computer desk" for my 55" tv.

As @LyondellBasell said, get a countertop and add cabinets.  I'm planning to do mine with teak wood (check out a home depot) and som nice cabinets to hold all my PC crap.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

"optimal" lol sure

smaller and filling less of your FOV = less immersive.

So you must have a 60" TV and distance between you and it, is 1 arms length?

55" and the distance is about 2ft.

Playing games on it is awesome, even more immersive than a 6 screen setup since it has no bezels, almost everything you see in your FOV is the game.

Unfortunately it sucks for reading text because it is 1080p, but hopefully soon I will upgrade it to 4k :)

Ikea Linnmons come in several sizes and are cheap, not sure on the weight of the tv but should be fine.

Thank you, someone that agrees, I use a TV because I can play video games on it, become more immersed into the game itself, and then when I feel like laying in bed watching a movie I simply push my chair out of the way and crawl backward into bed and watch a movie. Im completely fine with a big TV its better than using 4 monitors stacked ontop of each other and then the screens are all seperated with lines that break your immersion. id rather just have one big screen. ive never even had problems with reading Text on my TV its absolutely fine for me. I can get a wireless mouse and keyboard too if i really wanted and lay back in bed and use my computer from there.

I finally upgraded my old 2009 21" monitor to a 34" ultrawide and when i first set it up within arms reach i felt like I was going to hurl playing rocket league. I don't know how you keep your lunch down with your whole vision filled!

It took about 1-2 weeks to adjust to gaming on a large screen.

Since more of your vision has moving visuals it makes you dizzy at first.

Now it doesn't make me dizzy at all, and using any regular sized 24-27" monitor looks like a kid's toy xD not immersive at all.

I guess you could compare it to a regular 24" monitor vs a phone, gaming on a phone is just not immersive in comparison.
