What can my old rig still do?

If you have no other use and don't mind it getting damaged, then why not try extreme overclocking,  See how hard you can push it with what ever you have at home.

It's sitting at 3.2GHz (up from 2.4) right now. Did I win the silicon lottery or what?

well, how much farther can it go,  can you poor LN over it or bastardize a small AC/fridge and do some Phase change?

No. This is as high as the motherboard lets it go. Any farther and it sits at a black screen when you try to boot it.

Wanna know the weird part? I'm using the cooler that came with my 2.0GHz Celeron with some Arctic MX-2. Sits about 138F at idle. But I'm gonna leave it at 2.4 though. It gets funky that high up (not enough wattage, I'm within like 10 watts of killing the power supply, and it gets unstable).

Well, I'm in the progress of rebuilding my old toy, and I was wondering if it was really good for much of anything, these days. Specs are below, and feel free to give me your honest thoughts. Folding is out of the question, since it would kill the PSU, since I have to wiggle room left (5.4 watts :o).

Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz Hyper-Threaded

ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 256MB AGP 8X

HTPC

The answer is always HTPC. Stream movies, play emulators (just imagine having all old consoles at your disposal), browse the Web etc. You just need some USB controllers and a new case.

I'll have to edit the post, but I'm not spending $20 for a new power supply, when my new rig gets double on one core, and consumes far less power.
